Caregiver Services Clinician

Position Summary: We seek a passionate and dedicated Clinician II, Caregiver Services, to care for our community’s most vulnerable children. This role will support clients and work within a clinical team, providing an opportunity to make a significant impact while working at a century-old organization committed to high-quality care. The focus will be on developing fluency in specialized treatment theories and skills tailored to our local community. Primary responsibilities include Outpatient therapy and collaboration with other Mental Health Services team members.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Deliver psychotherapeutic clinical care and case management per DBHDS and DMAS regulations.
  • Develop and implement Individual, Family, and Group treatment interventions.
  • Provide direct therapeutic care, manage a caseload, and handle clinical duties such as group therapy and case collaboration.
  • Maintain compliance with funding source regulations and documentation requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with local, State, and Federal regulatory requirements, including HIPAA, Medicaid, and professional standards.
  • Work under the direction of the Outpatient Program Supervisor and collaborate closely with the Mental Health Leadership Team.
  • Report clinical and other concerns to your supervisor and management team.
  • Coordinate and maintain referrals, conduct intake assessments, and diagnoses.
  • Support junior colleagues with clinical consultation and participate in rotating backup coverage for Immediate Response services.
  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues to ensure client care follows policy and procedure.
  • Maintain certifications in behavior management training, CPR, and First Aid, and fulfill continuing education requirements.
  • Represent ChildSavers positively and professionally, participate in meetings, and collaborate with community partners such as Richmond Police Department, Richmond Public Schools, VCU Health System, and Department of Social Services.
  • Adhere to all ChildSavers policies and complete assigned tasks, including administrative projects necessary for program success.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Social Work, Sociology, Psychology, or a related human services field with experience working with adults from a Trauma-Informed Care perspective.
  • Licensed by the Board of Health Professions to practice in VA.
  • Valid, current Commonwealth of VA Driver’s License and insurable to drive a company vehicle.
  • Additional requirements as assigned by DMAS and/or licensure standards.


Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • Ability to lift 25+ pounds.
  • Ability to perform CPR and First Aid.
  • Ability to sit at a desk or workstation for extended periods while delivering telehealth sessions.
  • Effective communication skills for teamwork, including speaking, listening, and using communication devices.
  • Cognitive demands include complex problem-solving, critical thinking, and attention to detail.
