Job Summary

Care Navigators reduce barriers and improve behavioral health access by providing care coordination as the first point of contact for healthcare members and provider calls. The Care Navigator gathers information from a member utilizing a behavioral health assessment and provides information to the caller from intake to triage. We feel this role is one of the most important in our company and in the services we provide.

This role requires teamwork, empathy, collaboration, multitasking, communication and listening skills, excellent customer service skills, and an understanding of basic medical insurance information. Candidates must be comfortable talking with individuals in crisis and assessing their needs as they seek care in behavioral health.

Being a remote-based position, you will be working in the comforts of your own home using company-provided equipment on continuous calls using your headset.

A day in the life of a Care Navigator includes working an 8-hour shift with consistent expectations to:

  • Receive calls from behavioral health providers and health plan members to assess behavioral health care needs and secure access to needed behavioral healthcare through our system of providers.
  • Within calls with members, you may:
    • Verify demographic information, provide benefits, claims, basic billing/coding information following HIPPA law.
    • Conduct standardized behavioral health risk screenings with members to assess member needs and schedule appointments with behavioral healthcare providers or provide referrals to network providers.
    • Assess levels of risk and triage crisis calls to clinical staff as appropriate.
    • Work simultaneously between multiple systems to provide information on member/provider mental health insurance quotes and benefits.
    • Respond to and resolve routine insurance claims status questions and provide information related to insurance denials or claims submission.
  • Meet performance measures and contract requirements similar to a call center environment which are measured daily and analyzed monthly.

To qualify for this role, you must:

  • Have a High School Diploma
  • Be able to communicate using a headset and type simultaneously
  • Create a sense of warmth, openness, and calmness with callers establishing trust quickly
  • Have excellent written and verbal communication skills, organizational and time management skills, and problem solving skills
  • A willingness to work within a collaborative, team-oriented environment
  • Strong computer skills (MS Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, and data processing).

  • We prefer you also have:
    • 1+ years' experience in a call center and/or crisis center AND/OR
    • 1+ years medical billing/coding and/or claims experience (mental health preferred) AND/OR
    • 1+ years working in a remote/telework environment
    • Plus experience with the Genesys Interaction Desktop and knowledge of health insurance
    • Are proficient in Spanish.


Working Conditions

  • Work is performed indoors in a home office environment- not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.
  • Frequent exposure to VDT screens and computer.
  • Physical demands include constant ability to remain in a stationary position, move about inside an office or remote setting, able to communicate and exchange information with others, able to inspect information, and able to perform repetitive motion with arms and fingers.
  • Mental demands include constant ability to interpret data, problem solve, make decisions, and organize and plan.


Salary and Other Compensation:

The starting salary that Lucet reasonably expects to pay for this position ranges from $18.00 - $21.00 per hour, depending on circumstances including an applicant's skills, education/degrees, certifications, prior experience, market data, and other relevant factors.

This position is eligible for a bonus in accordance with the terms of Lucet's incentive plan based on both company performance and individual performance.
