Summary The Program Camp Counselor is responsible for conducting assigned camp programs.

Education and experience necessary to instruct camp programs.
Qualifications
Ability to complete the essential functions of the position.
Knowledge of children and children’s activities.
Excellent communication skills.
Appropriate certifications and/or training.

Essential Functions
Instruct assigned camp programs competently and reliably.
Develop and maintain effective public relations/communications with staff and customers.
Maintain inventory of program supplies and make recommendations for purchases.
Clean and maintain program area as necessary.
Assist in evaluating assigned programs and make recommendations for improvement.
Support all safety, health and loss control policies adopted by the park district. Work to ensure the safety of every employee and customer and the protection of equipment and facilities.
Supervise campers during visits to Pool on Pacific and during various other field trips.
Perform all other duties as assigned.

Must be able to handle questions and concerns from the public in a professional manner.
Must be able to work with co-workers.
Must be able to respond to deadlines and crisis situations.
Physical Considerations
Indoor work conditions will include lighting, temperature and noise. Outside conditions will include extreme temperature, sunlight and precipitation.
Working Hours
The normal workweek shall be as designated by the employee’s immediate supervisor as necessary to properly perform the position duties. The employee is considered to be on duty whenever a need exists for his/her services.
