Position Purpose

The BI Business Manager leads and manages a team of project-based personnel throughout the lifecycle of jobs focused on building automation and controls installation. This critical role will involve contract administration, project purchasing, and project operations management. This position will include construction job costing, contract review and progress billing. The BI Business Manager ensures the quality, standardization, profitability and timeliness of all business unit operations

Pay Range: $100,000 - $130,000 plus potential profit share

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. The essential functions of this position include but are not limited to:

  • Develops and administers cost control and contract administration strategies. Reviews and recommends modifications and approval of contract and change order language. Tracks work execution relative to contract obligations and oversees subcontracting practices.
  • Works closely with BI sales and engineering managers to achieve sales, production and profit goals.
  • Conducts and/or manages progress billings, review of personnel time cards and timely job cost maintenance. Charges time to jobs as appropriate. Resolves customer complaints on progress billings and invoices.
  • Provides job progress, cost, and material availability information for the business unit including timely booking and closing of projects.
  • Leads, develops and manages a team of project-based personnel including contract administrators, project coordinators, administrative assistants, parts, warehouse, delivery and inventory control personnel.
  • Ensures effective in-house training programs are in place and functioning.
  • Maintains an aggressive overbilled position on all projects at all times.
  • Oversees material and inventory ordering procedures, control and implementation.
  • Forecasts for personnel, equipment, tools and material needs.
  • Involves LONG management in bid and other business opportunities that present unusual or excessive risk.
  • Assist with collection efforts as needed or directed by supervisor
  • Other duties assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business or accounting degree and 3 years working experience in a similar role; HVAC, Building Technologies and/or Automation industry or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of construction job costing and progress billing
  • Leadership, interpersonal, managerial skills, and computer skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Ability to lift 25 lbs. from floor to countertop and countertop to floor
