Behavioral Health Aide - School Based

Utilizing the best practices model as communicated by the State of Oklahoma, the Behavioral Health Aide will work with the child/adolescent in their home, school and community, incorporating and focusing on their strengths as well as the child’s age and cultural heritage. The BHA will provide behavioral management support for the child/adolescent and his/her family in various settings.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Current driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • 60 hours or equivalent of college credit, or may substitute one year of relevant employment and/or responsibility in care of children with complex emotional needs for one year of college experience, for up to two years of college experience.
  • Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with peers, clients and the public.
  • Ability to effectively interact with staff, clients and administration and the community both in person and on the telephone.
  • Personality and presentation of oneself demonstrating the ability to work with various agency systems while maintaining objectivity and cooperative attitude.
  • Exhibit ability to effectively organize and plan field-work schedule to best service and maximize the needs of clients, i.e. arranging home based meetings, agency meetings, and care coordinator meetings.
  • Must be able to climb stairs and access non-(handicap) accessible equipped residences/facilities.

This model is characterized by innovative, team-based approach and whole person care for adults and children with a range of complex mental health and substance use challenges.

  • Increased access to care and crisis services
  • Expanded traditional community mental health and substance use services.
  • Added Care Coordination and physical health screening for mental health clients
  • Greater access to Social Services for clients’ economic and social needs
  • Increased specialized services for veterans, those most in need, and those impacted by the opioid crisis.
