Requirements

SUMMARY: AV Service Technician is responsible for repairing and maintaining audiovisual and multimedia systems.

HIERARCHY: The Service Technician reports directly to the Service Manager who reports to the General Manager who reports to the CEO.

PRIMARY DUTIES: The AV Service Technician shall be responsible for but not limited to the following:

  • Work to achieve 100% customer satisfaction 100% of the time
  • Perform service calls, troubleshoot, and resolve problems with A/V systems
  • Perform preventative maintenance of contracted systems
  • Load and test control code
  • Load and tweak DSP files
  • QA systems after performing work
  • Train clients on use of A/V systems
  • Assist in systems installation when necessary
  • Crimp, solder, wire pull, label, terminate, and other technical tasks associated with A/V systems
  • Maintain a professional appearance and attitude
  • Resolve all customer service issues with management
  • Maintain all associated paperwork in a timely manner (timesheet, expenses, etc.)
  • Follow system drawings and wiring details
  • Submit markups when needed
  • Van inventory, maintenance and appearance
  • Full compliance with company’s policies and procedures
  • Other duties as deemed necessary by management

Competency

  • Strong client and service focused mindset, demonstrate excellent listening skills and the ability to understand customer issues.
  • Understanding of how A/V systems function, and how to diagnose and resolve problems within those systems.
  • An ability to use discretion and good judgment with regard to sensitive or confidential information.
  • Proficient with computers, including audiovisual applications (ClearOne, AMX, Crestron, Polycomm, etc.)
  • Must have a clean driving record
  • Ability to work flexible hours and limited travel

EXPERIENCE: A minimum of three years of related Audio Visual experience and an InfoComm CTS designation or significant progress towards it.

REQUIRED EDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: English

Physical Demands

  • Ability to drive a company van to client sites
  • Ability to stoop, kneel, bend at the waist, and reach on a daily basis
  • Ability to safely use ladders, scaffolding and lifts
  • Regularly use hands and fingers to handle, control or feel objects
  • Regularly see details of objects that are less than a few feet away
  • Regularly speak clearly so listeners can understand
  • Regularly understand the speech of another person
  • Frequently work on projects that require deadlines
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds

WORK ENVIRONMENT: New Era office, warehouse and client sites.

EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK: Business hours are Monday through Friday 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. However, required work hours may vary depending on business needs. Overtime is possible. Ability to work flexible hours is required.

TRAVEL: 90% travel required to client sites within two hours. 10% travel to client sites further away with possible overnight stays.
