Job Summary

Reporting to the Director of Wellness and Recreation, the Associate Director of Wellness and Recreation for Programming is responsible for assisting with the overall management and supervision of the Department of Wellness and Recreation and planning for and leading an engaging and innovative, year-round programming calendar which focuses on wellness, recreation, intramurals, and club sports. The Associate Director for Wellness Programming will serve as the secondary contact for the area of Wellness and Recreation.

Responsibilities

Supervise, train, and evaluate full-time personnel in the areas of wellness programming, recreation, intramurals, and club sports.

Manage student fee budget allocations related to wellness programming, recreation, intramurals, and club sports.

Create and implement year-round programming calendar for wellness, recreation (including outdoor), intramurals, and club sports.

Develop and lead a holistic wellness program which focuses on and promotes comprehensive college student health and wellness (i.e., AOD, STI education/prevention, nutrition, healthy body and relationships, and general student wellness programs and activities).

Lead annual Biennial Review process for the college.

Mange the annual college Health Summit; manage the wellness and recreation spaces in Housing.

Develop and maintain departmental policy manuals.

Manage the overall inventory of the area, and ensure that the area has and maintains safe and operable equipment.

Devise, and implement any contracts associated with programming for the area; create and implement collaborative programming opportunities across campus; respond to facility, staff, and student needs.

Required Qualifications

4 Year / Bachelor's Degree in a related field

6+ years of relevant experience

3+ years of supervisory experience

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree required in a related field

Experience with administration and assessment of a collegiate facility operations and staff.

Experience working with holistic wellness programming (i.e., AOD work, STD education/prevention, nutrition, etc.).

Successful track record of staff development and management.

Industry membership and involvement through organizations such as NIRSA.

CPR, First Aid, and AED certification.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

Demonstrated knowledge of ACSM "best practices" for fitness and wellness facilities. Ability to work in a collaborative, collegiate environment

Working knowledge of computers and various software packages used for word processing, graphs, table, etc. (Microsoft Office 2003 or higher)

Knowledge of CAS standards in regards to higher education policies and procedures.

Knowledge of NIRSA best practices as it pertains to the area.

Effective organizational and time management skills.

Ability to communicate effectively in written, verbal, and oral form
