Knox College invites applications for the position of Assistant Volleyball Coach. This is a part-time, non-benefits eligible position reporting to the Head Volleyball Coach. The salary range for this position is competitive. The successful candidate will have a focus on supporting student-athlete success and developing a competitive NCAA Division III program.

Knox student-athletes are driven individuals with a high focus on achievement in the classroom, on their respective field(s) of play, and, as community leaders. While institutional support for intercollegiate athletics at the College is strong, Prairie Fire athletics is aided by our generous athletics supporters who form our ‘team behind the team’, the K Club. While the K Club has been active for many years, the past three years have seen its upward trajectory rise significantly both in dollars raised, and in alumni engagement.

Responsibilities

The Assistant Volleyball Coach is responsible for assisting and supporting the head coach in all aspects of the Knox College volleyball program including but not limited to: assisting with the execution of a successful recruiting and retention plan; assisting with the integration of the program into the campus community; scheduling, planning, and supervising practices and contests as assigned; assisting with the management of the programs’ operating budget; assisting with the administration of all aspects of the program ensuring compliance with departmental, institutional, Midwest Conference (MWC) and NCAA rules and regulations; assisting with alumni and booster engagement including promotion of program on social media platforms; additional coaching and administrative duties as assigned. Must provide support and encouragement and ensure the safety and well-being of the student-athletes.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university
  • Playing and/ or coaching experience in college volleyball
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks and projects
  • An appreciation for a residential liberal arts education and flexibility to adapt to constant change
  • Respect for individual differences, openness to the values and opinions of others, and commitment to creating a diverse and inclusive environment for underrepresented communities

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1 or more years of coaching experience at the NCAA Division III level
  • 1 or more years of college volleyball recruiting experience
  • Experience with Front Rush Database or similar platform
  • Experience recruiting volleyball in the Midwest and internationally
  • Prior experience performing scouting duties
  • Experience with youth and skills camps
