Architecture Principal- Health Sciences Education Planner - Accelerating Innovation in Academic Health and Medical Education

We are thrilled to team up with a pioneering architecture, engineering, and planning firm in their search for an exceptional Planning Principal specialized in Health Sciences Education. Operating in various locations, including Minneapolis, MN, Boston, MA, Santa Monica, CA, Milwaukee, WI, San Francisco, CA, and Alexandria, VA, this company is expanding its team to take on new and exciting project work. The ideal candidate will bring a minimum of 15 years of professional experience, particularly in planning and programming for health science, nursing, and medical education projects for academic clients nationwide. Experience in healthcare and general higher education planning and programming will also be considered.
Key Responsibilities:
- Function as a thought leader in the realm of health science and medical education, in line with the firm's national market strategy.
- Drive the programming and planning processes for advanced health sciences and medical education environments, focusing on pedagogy enhancements, skill development, and student engagement.
- Engage with diverse stakeholders, including clients, users, and other constituents to develop program requirements consensus.
- Collaborate closely with principals, planners, project managers, and designers to develop strategic planning and programming solutions. Lead the documentation of space type systems such as casework, equipment, and next-gen learning and discovery settings.
- Manage one or more small to medium-sized planning projects, including negotiating project scope, fees, schedule, and quality.
- Participate in marketing efforts, proposal development, interview participation, and presentations.
- Foster strong relationships with current and potential clients.
- Share your expertise with colleagues and mentor the upcoming generation of thought leaders.
- Assist in the development of planning and programming standards across all company offices.
- Participate actively in educational, social, and professional events, including involvement in industry associations.
- Advocate for sustainable design solutions, integrating them into the planning and programming process.
Key Qualifications:
- Minimum of 15 years of programming/planning experience with demonstrable knowledge of higher education clients, academic health science programs, and emerging technology and pedagogies.
- Architectural registration is preferred.
- Strong design sensitivity and technical abilities.
- Proficiency in industry-standard software like Revit, SketchUp, and project management software.
- Knowledge and capability to participate in all project phases, including design, construction documentation, and construction administration.
- Ability to integrate sustainability and LEED guidelines into project work. LEED AP is preferred.
- Strong collaboration and proactive communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to travel to project locations and other company offices outside of your specific region.
Compensation Information:
A highly competitive salary in the range of $140,000 - $260,000 is on offer, alongside robust benefits including an annual bonus and success sharing bonus program, 401(k) guaranteed contribution, paid parental leave, medical, dental, and life insurance plans, as well as PTO and short- and long-term disability programs. Final compensation will be determined by work experience, education, licensure requirements, and/or skill level.
