Anticipated Division Head, Math/Science

Prospect High School seeks individuals with a strong academic background and the desire to help all students maximize learning and promote personal development in a cooperative, supportive, and respectful environment. The Division Head (Math/Science) is responsible for the conduct, evaluation, and improvement of instruction as well as the development, review, and updating of curriculum within the academic areas supervised. The Division Head provides educational guidance, support, and leadership to the staff to ensure the district's educational goals and objectives are being met.

Specific Duties

  • Evaluates staff performance and encourages professional growth and self-improvement.
  • Develops and maintains information on strategies for instructional improvement.
  • Monitors student outcomes in division classes to ensure that district educational goals and objectives are being met.
  • Facilitates continual review and evaluation of curriculum.
  • Keeps up-to-date on research and development in the academic areas supervised to provide leadership for instructional improvement.
  • Makes observations to assist teachers.
  • Maintains math and science department budgets and safety protocols.
  • Provides input from the division to building staffing, scheduling, and curriculum decisions.
  • Serves as the first referral from teachers on student disciplinary problems.
  • Helps teachers identify and gain access to human and material resources.
  • Collaborates with district and building leadership to ensure equity is infused in practice and remains at the forefront of efforts to disrupt inequities.
  • Performs other tasks assigned by the Associate Principal(s).

Qualifications:

  • Presently holds State of Illinois Professional Educator License with a General Administrator Endorsement or a Principal Endorsement;
  • Previous building level administrative experience preferred;
  • Knowledge of and experience in staff supervision and evaluation.

LENGTH OF CONTRACT: 195 day assignment

SALARY RANGE: Administrative Salary Grade One - $125,567-$156,959; Plus Excellent Benefits Package

EFFECTIVE DATE OF APPOINTMENT: July 1, 2024
