Scout Energy is a private energy investment firm that acquires, operates, and improves upstream conventional oil and gas properties for institutional investors. Scout’s business is both the management of the private energy funds and the operations of the oil and gas assets it owns. The current employee base is approximately 1100 with 185 employees in the Dallas (headquarters) office.
Scout is seeking an Air Quality Specialist with a focus towards air quality and compliance. This position will assist in ensuring Scout maintains environmental compliance within states in which it operates and continues to build strong working relationships with local, state, and federal environmental agencies. This position will be located at Scout’s Dallas office and will report to Scout’s HSE Manager.
Duties & Responsibilities
Perform air quality emissions evaluations, greenhouse gas reporting and data gathering, and annual emission reporting
Provide oversight and/or prepare environmental air permits and applications for upstream and mid-stream oil and gas facilities
Interact with environmental agencies to ensure progression of pending permits, applications, and resolution of corrective action or notice of violation
Manage all aspects of multiple projects varying in scale and complexity
Interact with environmental agencies to ensure progression of pending permits, applications, and resolution of corrective actions or notices of violation
Lead and develop interactions with environmental agencies to ensure Scout is well-represented and maintains a good relationship
Ability to prioritize assignments and meet deadlines in a fast-paced and growth-oriented environment
Anticipate potential concerns and ensure costs, resources, and time required to complete projects is considered for Scout to remain in compliance
Ability to identify, develop, and gather necessary resources to complete projects, and partner with other staff to secure specialized resources
Monitor activities, allocate resources, and assign tasks to ensure targets are met
Participate in operational meetings to communicate project tasks, achievements, and potential concerns
Promote continuous quality and improvement
Maintain working knowledge of existing rules and integrate new or revised rules into responsibilities
Apply knowledge and understanding of regulations to long-term asset goals
Skills & Specifications
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Ability to understand and explain detailed regulatory compliance programs and/or issues
Ability to comply with changing regulatory procedures and prioritize work effectively
Developed organizational, problem‐solving, analytical, and time management skills
Proficient with Microsoft Office and ability to learn corporate systems
Ability to travel to Scout assets; travel estimated at 25%
Education & Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in an Engineering or Environmental Science discipline or experience equivalent
Minimum 3-4 years oil and gas environmental experience
