The Accounting Clerk (AP/Payroll) is responsible for managing payroll & pay-related employee data along with execution of payable processes including: receipt, review, and handling requests for payment. Duties cover verifying accuracy, coding, and maintaining records of financial data for reporting and reconciliation. This role reports to the accounting manager with a primary work schedule of normal business hours, Mon. - Fri. with flexibility to adjust schedule as needed.
Specific Duties / Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain computer-based AP & payroll files & data
Efficiently enter and manage requests for timely payments
Review invoices / statements for accuracy and correct coding
Process all checks and ACH payments
Work closely with accounting, purchasing, internal customers & vendors
Execute policies / procedures in managing overall payroll systems including:
Supervisory approvals, discrepancy resolutions, and work time posting
Running weekly payroll calculations and tax deposits
Maintain attendance point system
Update payroll records & input changes related to: exemptions, direct deposit, garnishments, job titles, dept. transfers, etc.
Resolve payroll discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information
Process wage /employment verifications
Address questions related to payroll topics
Work with minimal supervision; bring forward improvements and any discrepancies
Other duties as assigned by Manager/Supervisor
Requirements
Education: GED(Min);Associate degree related field (preferred/ not required)
Coursework in principles of accounting
Experience: Min. 2 years' experience in accounts payable OR receivable (AP/AR)
Experience working w/ payroll management
Intermediate skill level in MS Excel/ data entry
Skills/Abilities/Attributes:
Working knowledge intermediate skill level in Microsoft office (Excel, WORD, Outlook)
Organized w/ strong attention to details (especially related to numeric data)
Analytical problem-solver w/ good communication skills (written & verbal)
Able to work in fast-paced environment w/ minimal supervision
Self-directed, team player w/ good interpersonal skills & initiative
Physical Requirements:
Able to focus while working in open office environment
Perform computer-based work for prolong periods; up to 10 hrs. / day
Work safely in office setting including: stand, walk, sit, bend, lift up to 30 lbs.
