Our Academic Dean is responsible for maintaining and supporting the academic rigor in the school to ensure that our scholars are receiving the best education possible. They will support teachers in their curriculum and differentiation of instruction to meet every scholar where they are at and move them academically so they are prepared for college and beyond.
What You Will Do…
At Milwaukee College Prep we take care of our employees. We provide competitive salaries, and a full slate of benefits including full health, dental, vision, and life insurance, along with an optional 403b retirement plan. Vacation – 3 weeks between end of June and middle of July plus staff vacation days during school year (Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter, etc). 10 paid personal days per year.

Our Academic Dean is responsible for maintaining and supporting the academic rigor in the school to ensure that our scholars are receiving the best education possible. They will support teachers in their curriculum and differentiation of instruction to meet every scholar where they are at and move them academically so they are prepared for college and beyond.
What You Will Do…
- Provides oversight and scheduling of all federal, state and local testing
- Models lessons to staff
- Oversees grade level planning, reviews lesson plans and provides feedback
- Supports staff with resources
- Act as the academic leader of the school, responsible for its day-to-day operation, monitoring student academic progress, addresses student academic emergencies
- Observe, supervise, and help evaluate the academic staff in the development and implementation of curriculum; supervises the teaching process, and reviews and evaluates the academic programs
- Ensure compliance with legal requirements of government regulations and agencies; maintains the educational standards established by the State of Wisconsin and by those agencies that examine and accredit the school
- Make recommendations to the CAO and Principal regarding the hiring and retention, and the assignment of academic staff
- Establish programs for the orientation of new teachers, for in-service training of all teachers, and for the evaluation of classroom teachers, to ensure that teachers are familiar with and adhere to school policies in all areas of the school operation
- Conduct regular meetings with staff which will deal both with routine school matters and with the stimulating exchange of ideas on issues of educational/philosophical interest and concern
- Oversee the coordination of the co-curricular and extra-curricular activity programs of the school; assists in the planning and the presentation of school assemblies and programs; assists in maintaining a comprehensive calendar of school events; keeps the entire school community informed of various school programs and activities
- Provide for the academic guidance of students; maintains complete academic records on all students; oversees the grading and the reporting of standards and methods used by teachers in measuring student achievement
- Serve as a coach to teachers in matters of classroom management, teaching methods, and general school procedures
- Develops and implements academic professional development
- Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred
- Wisconsin teaching certification
- A passion for teaching in Milwaukee
- Absolute belief in every child’s ability to succeed and tenacity to ensure that success
- Successful lead teaching experience in an urban environment preferred
- Administrative and/or supervisory experience preferred
- Administrator License and/or willingness to enter certification program
