Rêve Prep is based upon the fundamental belief that with high-quality instruction, which requires rigorous curriculum, individualized supports, and character development, every student will be challenged and will excel academically. We believe that an excellent education that sets ambitious academic and life goals, and which is backwards planned from those goals, starting in pre-kindergarten and planned vertically across all grades, is directly correlated to a positive life trajectory, including access to educational and professional opportunities - specifically attending and graduating from a competitive high school, attending and graduating from a four-year college, and achieving ambitious career goals.

The Position

We are looking for a Dean of Students to help coordinate, monitor, and facilitate the implementation of academic and enrichment lessons, in addition to other schoolwide academic support duties. The Dean of Students will report to the School Director.

Key Accountabilities

Primary responsibilities:

Culture and Communications

  • Build and sustain a structured, consistent and joyful school culture rooted in our core values of Respect, Excellence, Virtue, Enthusiasm, Determination, Understanding, and Preparedness
  • Motivate and lead staff to execute upon the mission of Rêve Preparatory Charter School and maintain a high level of commitment to the service of students and families
  • Create structures for, and oversee, meaningful family engagement through regularly scheduled events, communication, and solicitation of parent feedback
  • Ensure the physical and emotional safety of all students and staff by consistently evaluating the school culture and environment
  • Motivates students in a positive direction which will help students to increase individual decision-making responsibilities
  • Leads development of positive behavior support systems and development of intervention strategies
  • Works positively with all students to provide them with assistance in meeting their educational needs
  • Coordinates, facilitates and implements disciplinary intervention steps, including PBIS, and processes with staff
  • Implement systems for tracking school culture and monitors, analyzes and defines action plans based on this data
  • Participate in professional growth opportunities as required to maintain awareness of educational trends, management concepts, community involvement, and other leadership initiatives

Academics

  • Responsible for daily, weekly, and monthly analyzation of school and educational data to reflect upon the information and use it to make informed decisions
  • Support the development of a state-of-the-art curriculum based on best practices of high performing schools
  • Ensure that all aspects of the curriculum incorporate multicultural and cross-cultural skill building strategies
  • Co-create rigorous, standards based interim assessments for Reading Comprehension, Math, Science, Social Studies, and Writing for every grade, as well systems to evaluate the outcomes and respond to data
  • Coach teachers and staff on executing daily, weekly and interim assessments and analysis, implementing highly responsive instructional action plans that bring 100% of scholars to mastery of 100% of objectives such that every single student masters every single standard
  • Participate in weekly Teaching and Learning Committee meetings, providing faculty opportunities for reflection, sharing of best practice, and recommendations for changes

Compliance and Accountability

  • Ensure school maintains compliance with all federal and state laws and regulations by administering the appropriate policies and procedures
  • Maintain and distribute monthly reports to the School Director and/or the CEO/Superintendent around topics of enrollment, academic achievement, finances, and other pertinent operational data
  • Provide various reports to the School Director and/or the CEO/Superintendent and all external entities as required

  • Clear understanding of policies and law affecting special populations, including low income students, English Language Learners, students receiving Special Education services, homeless students, and foster students

Key Position Outputs

  • Ensure systems and procedures at school are clear, communicated, and consistently implemented to 100%
  • Lead data evaluation for rigorous, standards-based interim assessments for Reading Comprehension, Math, Science, Social Studies and Writing, in all grades
  • Drive teacher growth at high levels through individual goal setting around classroom culture, curriculum development, lesson creation and lesson execution, and data analysis and action planning
  • Support staff-wide professional development programming to lead teachers in analyzing student data highly responsive action plans that bring 100% of scholars to mastery of 100% of grade level standards
  • Establish positive relationships with families, staff and community

Qualifications, Attributes And Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree preferred
  • Experience in the areas of education, staff development and coaching, board relations, strategic planning, community relations required
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal); adept at public speaking
  • Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills; ability to work with a diverse group of individuals and stakeholders and must be well-organized, ability to balance competing priorities and multi-task
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local educational programs, laws, and regulations is a plus
  • Valid Teaching Certification in Texas
  • Belief in and alignment with Rêve Preparatory Charter School’s mission and core values is non-negotiable
  • Enthusiastic mindset to take on non-related job duties as necessary and assigned
