Imagine a high school that has mastered the art of arts education. Idyllwild Arts Academy is a close-knit, working community of students and teachers whose passion for the arts is balanced by a dedication to learning. Idyllwild Arts offers a disciplined college preparatory program for grades 9-12 and post-graduates—along with world-class training in creative writing, dance, film & video, interdisciplinary arts, music, theatre and visual art. The Idyllwild Arts Summer Program— for nearly 60 years, this annual tradition continues to offer rare opportunities for creative self-discovery in the arts. Every summer, more than 1,900 children, teens, and adults attend Idyllwild Arts' workshops under the pines, pursuing interests in creative writing, dance, music, theatre and visual art - and taught by some of America's finest artists. Weeklong festivals and special programs, including our famed Native American Arts program, bring an added dimension and depth to specific artistic pursuits. The mission of the Idyllwild Arts Foundation is to promote and advance artistic and cultural development through education in a beautiful, natural environment conducive to positive personal growth.

    ✨ The magic of Writers Week at Idyllwild Arts! ✨ For five days last month, writers from around the world came together under the mystic stars and pines to refine their craft with our incredible faculty in fiction, creative nonfiction, and poetry. 🌲📚 From inspirational workshops and craft talks to breakthrough moments and lively discussions, our attendees found their voices and pushed their boundaries. For decades, Idyllwild Arts has been a haven for talented poets and writers like Angela Moralis, Vanessa Martir, Bojan Louis, Casandra M. Marisa is the first professional dancer to be named to People Magazine's “Women Changing the World.” She is a leading authority on disability inclusion and building a culture of belonging, having been named a LinkedIn Top Voice and featured on Good Morning America, NBC Today, and other major media outlets. Her work has amassed over 100 million views across social media. ✨As a sought-after international speaker and performing artist, Marisa has shared the stage with Tim Cook at Apple HQ’s Steve Jobs Theater. She has collaborated with global brands such as Google, Microsoft, Apple, Meta, Red Bull, adidas, and PayPal. A stroke survivor and late-diagnosed Autistic, Marisa is also a proud fourth-generation Japanese American.   • Our 2024 Adult Native Arts workshops wrapped up last week, and we were truly inspired as our talented faculty and eager students joined forces to carry on so many culturally rich art forms and experiences!🎨✨ Idyllwild Arts has been a beacon for Indigenous Arts for over 70 years, connecting Native American teaching artists, knowledge bearers, and scholars to share their creative talents with students and one another.   • Summer session is in full swing at Idyllwild Arts, and our popular H.O.T. Clay and Ceramics adult program truly brought the heat! 🔥From hand-building soft clay to wheel throwing, our students had an array of opportunities to expand their skills through the therapeutic power of pottery! 🧘♀️✨ Idyllwild Arts has a long history of offering outstanding ceramics programs, with renowned faculty like Sam Lopez, Russell Brian Wrankle, Lynne Hobaica, Amy Santoferraro, Sanam Emami, Justin D'Onofrio, Leah Leitson, Susan Filley and many more. 🌟 These hands-on workshops offer open studios, faculty presentations, critiques and feedback, and an exhibit of faculty work with artist receptions. One Idyllwild." season 3, which exclusively features our amazing Idyllwild Arts Academy alumni! 🌍🎧 In this episode, Idyllwild Arts President Pamela Jordan chats with Audrey Carver, IAA Visual Arts '17. Audrey is a multidisciplinary artist originally from Idyllwild, CA. She graduated summa cum laude from Tufts University in 2022 with a self-designed major in Scientific Communication. 🎓✨ Audrey has showcased her work in both solo and group exhibitions in Cuenca (kwen-ca), Ecuador, Palm Springs, Idyllwild, San Diego, and Boston. 🖼️🌎 She has served as an artist-in-residence and science communication fellow at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography at UCSD, the Climate Science Alliance, Cabrillo National Monument, and the Tijuana River National Estuarine (es-tura-rin) Reserve. 🌊🌿 She was awarded Artist Enterprise Laboratory Grants from Idyllwild Arts Academy in 2015, 2016, and 2017 for public works. 🏆🎨 Audrey was a speaker at the 2020 San Diego Climate Summit, where she emphasized the importance of interdisciplinary science communication, and she was the curator for the 2023 San Diego Climate Summit art show hosted by the San Diego Natural History Museum. 🗣️🖌️ Don't miss out!   • ✨ That's a wrap on #MetalsWeek at the Idyllwild Arts Summer Program for Adults! We couldn't be more impressed by the creativity and imagination that poured out of our students, inspired by our world-class faculty. Adult campers maximized their artistic experience through workshops, lectures, and demonstrations, and they also had the chance to network with fellow jewelers and metal smiths.💍 From mold making and material casting in jewelry to the Hopi technique of silver overlay metal smithing, our students learned the ins and outs of all things metal! 🛠️ Huge thanks to our incredible instructors, Katja Toporski and Ronald Wadsworth, for sharing their wealth of knowledge with us.   • Last week's Native American Arts Festival Week was a resounding success! 🎉 This year's theme, "Celebrating Kinship Through the Power of Storytelling," took us on a journey full of culture, creativity, and passion. 🌿✨ Attendees gathered on our campus from far and wide for our many enriching public events, including the exhibition opening of "Blue Corn and Other Stories" by Joe Baker, the Michael Kabotie Lecture Series highlighting the work and perspectives of many talented Indigenous storytellers, a special screening of the zombie horror film "Blood Quantum," and an artist meet & greet with Idyllwild Arts Academy student Tain Half, who presented a photography exhibition, and Idyllwild Arts Academy alum Emily Clarke, who debuted a beautiful new poem. 📸📚 The Native American Arts Market and the third annual bird singing celebration, "Welcoming Home the Birds," was the perfect way to close out the week. 🛍️🎶 A special thank you to our program sponsors FNX, KVCR Public Media, and Unfold Development, as well as Native Arts Executive Director Shaliyah Ben for curating this incredible event. 🙏 Click the link to learn more about our Native American Arts Center! 🌟 https://bit.ly/3PZTR52
