1st Vice President, Investments (Infrastructure)

The 1st VP, Investments is responsible for independently sourcing and executing attractive transactions that meet CIM’s Infrastructure fund’s investment criteria. You will lead transactions from sourcing through disposition, including, but not limited to investment sourcing, underwriting, transaction negotiation, coordination of diligence, and execution, asset management and oversight of business plan, as well as investor meetings and correspondence.

Essential Functions

  • Source transactions that align with CIM’s middle-market, value added Infrastructure investment strategy and underwriting criteria; manage such assets through acquisition, ownership and disposition.
  • Oversee investment structuring of transactions to enhance returns and mitigate risks.
  • Oversee underwriting preparation, ensuring that investment structuring concepts are fully addressed to mitigate risk, and present sourced potential deals to Investment Committee.
  • Provide direction and oversight to Associate and AVP deal teams.
  • Actively manage assets to execute underwritten business plans with cross-functional and/or portfolio company management teams to mitigate potential risks and enhance investment results.
  • Advance transactions in alignment with CIM’s operating procedures (including due diligence, review, negotiation, coordination with attorneys and/or outside parties).
  • Actively assist the fund raising and investor relations teams by providing insights into current and potential investment opportunities and market conditions for existing and prospective investors.
  • Preferred transaction Experience in the communications or transportation sectors.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Provide direction and guidance to the Associate/AVP and other team members on the overall strategy and direction of transactions.
  • Provide leadership, mentoring, technical development and regular feedback to junior team members.
  • Provide input/feedback on annual 360-degree performance reviews.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: (including certification, licenses, etc.)

  • 7-10+ years of relevant industry and role experience, with a focus on middle-market, value-add infrastructure funds. Experience in project finance lending banks or infrastructure investment banking will be considered.
  • Proven experience and success with infrastructure deal origination.
  • Proven success driving deal execution, including leading and mentoring deal teams and interfacing with cross-functional partners and internal management.
  • MBA preferred.
  • Experience structuring and presenting complex transactions (Excel, Power Point required).

  • Excellent communication skills; a demonstrated ability to interact with external partners, investors and CIM management.
  • Strong sense of integrity and ethics.

Performance Metrics

  • Origination of profitable deals.
  • Effectiveness of relationships with third parties, investors, and CIM management.
  • Asset performance compared to approved business plan underwriting and/or annual budget.
  • Positive 360-degree team feedback, as measured during company performance review cycles.
