PDG is looking for 1099 Instructional Designers to join our network of talent to support PDG’s ongoing needs. The work to be performed will be on a project basis and will be paid on 1099. Travel may be required from time to time for client meetings. This job posting is to attract pipeline candidates only and not for a specific need.


The process PDG uses for hiring 1099 Contractors for this role includes the following:

  • Review of professional portfolio or work samples
  • Hiring Manager interview
  • Solution Design Challenge Presentation (for Solution Design Leads)


Position Summary

The Instructional Designer is responsible for the design of learning solutions across all modalities that meet learning objectives and improve performance.


As the voice of overall program design, the Instructional Designer keeps the learning journey consistent and connected across experiences and translates design concepts to detailed design as a buildable plan.


The Instructional Designer ensures that custom business performance solutions deliver high-quality engaging and effective learning, aligned with our client's business needs, priorities, and organizational goals by:

  • Performing instructional design as an individual Instructional Designer or as a lead, guiding other Instructional Designers using the ADDIE or other iterative/agile models.
  • Supporting the Solution Architect in program design.
  • Owning the transition of work from the Solution Architect to the project team.
  • Partnering with an Engagement Manager (EM), who oversees and manages the project.


Responsibilities

The Instructional Designer will:

  • Present solution concepts / detailed designs to senior-level business owners and L&D stakeholders, representing the voice of instructional design applied to improving business performance
  • Develop strong relationships with clients and client project teams
  • If leading design, direct the team of Instructional Designers to complete the engagement, including:
  • Applying instructional design approaches and PDG’s solutions frameworks to design and deliver programs that create measurable business impact
  • Lead brainstorming at the appropriate points of the project lifecycle
  • Defining and articulating the learning journey
  • Overseeing the quality work completed by the employee and contract Instructional Designers
  • Partnering with other Leads, such as the Media & Interactions Lead, at the project and/or account level
  • Perform the design function either as a member of a team or as a single designer when working on a project as the Lead Learning Experience Designer:
  • Assess client needs to determine appropriate performance interventions
  • Author and create instructional strategies based on the client's need
  • Create training content using custom storyboard templates
  • Provide instructional design support to all members of the internal and client-facing team
  • Develop alliances and working relationships with subject matter experts
  • Work cross-functionally with creative and technical departments to build client solutions
  • Develop and participate in system and user acceptance testing
  • Ensure content accuracy and appropriateness, and provide quality control editorial support


Education and Professional Experience

The Instructional Designer has:

  • A Bachelor Degree in Instructional Design, Instructional Systems Design, English, Journalism, Business Administration, or other related disciplines
  • 3+ years’ experience in instructional design, instructional technology, or training and corporate education
  • 3+ years’ experience working in a client-facing role
  • 1+ years’ experience working in a consulting environment
  • A strong understanding of Learning Experience Design (LxD)
  • A strong understanding of visual design, including strong PPT skills
  • Experience working in the life sciences industries (pharma, biotech, or medical device) industries and/or experience designing sales performance solutions is required.
