About the Company:

Our client, a leading national real estate developer, seeks a talented and experienced Controller to join their team in Dallas.


The Role:

In this crucial leadership role, you will play a central part in overseeing the financial health of the company and development projects. You will report directly to the CFO and collaborate closely with investment team members.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage all financial, accounting, and tax compliance activities for the company and its development projects.
  • Lead and supervise accounting teams (corporate and project level), ensuring smooth day-to-day operations.
  • Coordinate and oversee annual financial audits for each development project.
  • Partner with project leads to manage construction funding processes.
  • Oversee core treasury functions (capital calls, distributions, bank accounts).
  • Manage corporate accounting and financial reporting processes.
  • Develop, monitor, and revise annual corporate budgets.
  • Assist the CFO with preparing presentations for the board of directors.
  • Lead tax compliance efforts for the company and projects (in collaboration with external tax firms).
  • Design and implement internal controls to ensure financial accuracy.
  • Manage relationships with service providers (auditors, tax consultants, banks).
  • Lead and develop accounting personnel, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency.
  • Foster clear communication between accounting and other departments.
  • Complete additional tasks and projects as assigned.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting (required).
  • CPA license (required).
  • Minimum 8 years of relevant accounting experience (real estate or public accounting preferred).
  • Experience with real estate accounting software
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe products.
  • Experience with partnership accounting, development accounting, and tax compliance.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and excellent organizational skills.
