    Mustache For Memory

    - 2 years

    Health

I'm using the power of facial hair to raise awareness about Alzheimer's disease. In 2008, my father was diagnosed with Alzheimer's. Of course, I was anxious to learn more about the disease and what I learned was not encouraging for my father.

This is my contribution to awareness and support for Alzheimer's research and those living with the disease.

  • What’s missing from your UX portfolio?

    Medium

Over the past few years, I’ve talked to a lot of UX designers about their work and how to progress in their careers. Something I love about our industry is the passion for learning and willingness to seek out constructive criticism. The more conversations I have, the more I recognize a pattern.

  • Adapting Scrum for UX Design Teams

    2019 Convey UX Conference

At the 2019 Convey UX Conference I gave a talk where I shared how I successfully adopted elements of the Scrum framework, intended for software development, to enhance the effectiveness of UX design teams. And I didn’t have to sacrifice quality, innovation, or user-centered design principles.

  • UX Definition of Done: When is it over?

    Medium

Here’s my take on a functional framework for determining when design work is done. A Definition of Done should include some description of the expected deliverables, objectives and the approval process. Because different projects encompass different scopes, the deliverables may be different for each. But the most critical aspect is that the Definition of Done (DoD) is agreed upon before the project begins.

  • How to make UX and Agile work better together

    Medium

As a UX Manager, I’m constantly looking for ways to make our process more efficient, effective and enjoyable. The good thing is there’s no one-size-fits-all process. But that also makes it hard to define for your particular situation. With that in mind, our team at eharmony has made recent changes that can help inform the direction you take.

  • Mustache For Memory

    -

Mustache For Memory is an attempt to honor my father who was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in 2009 by helping others to have a brighter future. There are many promising advances in detecting Alzheimer’s and current research points to a cure in the future. But for those diagnosed today, the conclusion is predictable and inevitable.

There are many promising advances in detecting Alzheimer’s and current research points to a cure in the future. But for those diagnosed today, the conclusion is predictable and inevitable.

Mustache For Memory was created to raise awareness and support for those living with Alzheimer’s and their caregivers. Supporters are encouraged to draw attention to the cause by either growing a mustache and wearing clothing or accessories with mustache themes. I’ve personally found it to be an effective conversation starter and an ideal opportunity to share information about the charity and issues surrounding Alzheimer’s.
