One of the best use cases of AR glasses in an industrial setting is remote expert support where a worker can see a digital twin model of complex machinery for reference and work on a physical unit simultaneously. A remote expert can see the video feed from the glass and guide the end user by updating the digital twin model by extruding components, highlighting or pointing specific parts, etc. There is a significant business cost saved by avoiding flying in an expert to various work sites. Also, as older generations with vast domain knowledge retire, this kind of AR glass-based training can help workers retrain quickly.

I got an opportunity to explore a prototype AR collaboration solution that helped healthcare professionals visualize slices of MRI scans as a 3D model. Spatial information like these, where various tissue types can be isolated, color-coded, etc helps to plan a complex surgery like in the brain with much better outcomes. AI tools can help isolate blood vessels, and neural pathways, and visualization tools can help zoom in and out to see details or broader overviews as needed. This can also be helpful for repeatable training, overlaying scans on a real surgery for reference, and bringing in remote specialists in a live immersive AR for consultations.
