One of the most received feedback during design reviews and discussions in day to day design life. Aka “maza nahi aaya” Very well 👌 explained on how to counter it. One thing to add here would be: - Present any alternatives which were explored to see what changed in the feedback. It also shows flexibility to improve and adapt to feedback.

Here are (5) simple exercises to help your team rethink familiar problem spaces and consistently build empathy and customer connection. 1. Empathy Mapping: Empathy maps help teams understand customers' thoughts, feelings, and behaviours. By visualising customer experiences, teams can identify pain points and opportunities for innovation. 2. Journey Mapping: Create a customer journey map to visualize the steps a customer takes when interacting with your product. This exercise highlights key touchpoints and areas for improvement. 3. "How Might We" Questions: Encourage your team to reframe challenges by asking "How might we" questions. This technique opens up creative thinking and generates innovative solutions. 4. Feedback Sessions: Hold regular feedback sessions where team members share and discuss customer feedback. This practice ensures that insights are continuously integrated into the product development process. 5. Rapid Prototyping: Use rapid prototyping to quickly turn customer feedback into tangible solutions. This iterative process allows teams to test and refine ideas efficiently. Sometimes I get asked why as someone in the design and product areas I end up referring so much about remote work (in terms of policies) and async work (in terms of operations). It's often a matter of leverage, and this of course has more impact the larger the company is. For example, shifting design critique from calls (doesn't scale, creates silos, verbal feedback is not precise, conversations can tail easily) to async posts means automatically documenting decisions, have a clear log of feedback that can be analyzed, have space for tail discussions that can happen, opens up to the whole company. One operational change becomes the conduit for a massive gain in terms of quality of the work, time saved, documentation, and transparency. So if I have to choose... sometimes I end up focusing more on these changes in processes that are universal across the company more than a smaller change that is design specific. It's just more efficient and reaps major advantages.

Closing slide from my presentation yesterday on design quality. This is the standard I hold for our industry: Every company large enough to have a CPO or CTO should also have a CDO. The Chief Design Officer (CDO) is most responsible for elevating the quality of the customer experience, with special attention to craft. No other individual should care more about craft and quality, with the exception of the CEO in some cases. If you're actively interviewing for your next role, when you're asked “what questions do you have for me" ask who Design reports into. Follow up by asking how this impacts design quality and craft, and how your role can also impact these. #design #quality #craft
