An initiative taken by the Mayor's office, this project was split into two components. One was the demolition of and existing tent structure at the Memorial Park site along with relocating the existing cache. The other is to design and erect a new tent structure at a site owned and operated by the Department of Sanitation (DSNY). The project kicked off with bringing an architect on board to design a new tent structure. Soon thereafter I was involved in reviewing the design drawings, commenting on and coordinating various design change requests between the client and the architect.
I assisted in preparing documents to solicit bids from contractors for the demolition of the existing tent structure and relocation of the existing cache at the site in the form of C-containers and refrigerated container boxes. I also reached out to various rigging and trucking companies to gain an understanding of the logistics and budget of relocating the container. I was involved in preparing contract documents, preparing award letters to obtain approval of the selected contractor from the client, communicating with both the client agency and the contractor to coordinate numerous site visits, scheduling Armand's site superintendents to oversee any site work and resolve any other issues that may arise. While the procurement of the demolition contractor was taking place, I began working on preparing a new set of solicitation documents for the new tent structure.
The first phase of the project has begun and the demolition contractor is working on site. We are working towards awarding a contract to the contractor for the general construction work for the new tent structure site. In addition to the tasks listed, I am tasked with preparing schedules, scheduling meetings and phone call, keeping meeting minutes, reviewing proposals, attend proposal openings with the client, prepare bid leveling, assist in preparing monthly progress reports and coordinating with multiple contractors on site.

The Red Hook Branch of Brooklyn Public Library was constructed in 1975 and recently underwent renovations to address damage incurred during Superstorm Sandy, reopening in 2013. It is a neighborhood library serving families and children and offering programming for toddlers, school-age children and teens. This capital project will provide the physical comfort and facilities needed for children, families and individuals to focus on the knowledge-based tasks at hand in a comfortable physical environment arranged to inspire use of all the library has to offer.
Armand Corporation, in conjunction with NYCEDC, has been charged with the construction management of the renovation project. The project is budgeted at $8-12M including soft costs. The project is currently in the early design phases. The design team being led by LEVENBETTS Architects consist of well known and established engineering and design firms such as McLaren Engineering, Silman and Scape Landscape Architecture among others. I am responsible for coordination of various communications with the project consultants, clients and on-site personnel, scheduling meetings, updating meeting minutes, creating schedules, reviewing drawings for consistency, performing quick takeoffs, reviewing payment requisitions from the consultants, soliciting proposals from various engineering and inspection companies as needed and procuring new contracts. I review additional service proposals from the consultants, negotiate and present recommendations to clients. I also coordinate with the consultants to ensure all necessary paperwork for obtaining regulatory approvals and sign-offs are being prepared and that the project tasks are being completed on time. I keep the client informed of any changes, unforeseen conditions and communicate various client concerns and requests to the consultants to ensure that project team are aware of the latest information regarding the project schedule and budget.

The new office space will be home to the Bronx River Alliance and feature a 30 seat classroom and a 600-square-foot multi-purpose room. The design also includes a public plaza that can double as an outdoor programming area. One of the building’s many sustainable features is a curved vegetative wall, which will provide shade in the summer and allow sunlight to help heat the building during the winter. Designed by Kiss + Cathcart Architects, the River House will provide exciting new public amenities to the greenway being built along the Bronx River.
I was the project manager along with another construction project manager assigned to this job. During my time at NYCDDC, I worked on coordinating various construction activities, tracking changes and change orders, processing payments, communicating with various regulating agencies, and creating and sending routine updates to my superiors for this project. I attended biweekly meetings, updated meeting minutes, submittals and RFI logs and communicated with the construction manager on site on a daily basis to track project progress. I left NYCDDC to pursue another opportunity when this project was at around 80% construction completion.

I took over this project after the previous project manager left NYCDDC. As the project manager, I was involved with the project at the contractor procurement stage. During this time, I was tasked with ensuring that all pre-bid questions are answered, contractor bids are tabulated, and all client inquiries are responded to. Once the construction bids were submitted I prepared various documentations necessary to ensure that the budget for the project is approved by the governing city agency. In parallel, I reviewed and processed consultant payments, met with clients, interviewed the contractor and gathered all necessary paperwork from the contractor to ensure a smooth award phase. I left my position at NYCDDC after a construction manager was brought on for this project and the contract was awarded.

  • SolidWorks modeling and rendering project

    -

The team was tasked with creating a realistic solid model of a small vertical wind turbine using SolidWorks. Solid models, engineering datasheets, and renders were created. Easy assembly, portability, weight reduction, and cost were taken into consideration during the design phase. The team consisted of mechanical engineering students. Each team member had a specific section of the wind turbine to design. Communication between the team members assured that the final assembly was a perfect fit.
