    As the automotive world transitions from the connected car to the autonomous realm, the wider color-gamut displays are critical for safety as well as enhancing the customer experience.
    Harman and Samsung electronics collaborated to introduce for the first time automotive-grade cadmium-free quantum-dot light-emitting diode (QLED) technology in the auto markets.
    We demonstrated major break-through for the first time >100% NTSC (C.I.E 1936) color gamut for automotive display modules with luminance >1000nits for QLED automotive grade modules.
    Further, we developed, tested and validated QD material and film with barrier coating to meet and exceed all automotive reliability testing and qualification processes.
    We also improved, validated and qualified Blue LED with excellent luminance efficiency for automotive reliability conditions.

    Given recent trends, it is inevitable that there will be more and more computers in vehicles: built-in, brought-in, worn, etc. Many of these devices will want to interact with us—and we with them. If not designed and engineered appropriately, the user interfaces (UIs) of these devices may become increasingly complex and distracting to the driver. To avoid this, careful attention has to be paid to designing appropriate in-vehicle interaction methods and human-machine interfaces (HMIs). We…

    Given recent trends, it is inevitable that there will be more and more computers in vehicles: built-in, brought-in, worn, etc. Many of these devices will want to interact with us—and we with them. If not designed and engineered appropriately, the user interfaces (UIs) of these devices may become increasingly complex and distracting to the driver. To avoid this, careful attention has to be paid to designing appropriate in-vehicle interaction methods and human-machine interfaces (HMIs). We suggest that at this point, updates to in-vehicle HMIs cannot be just incremental, but have to be dramatic in order to reduce distraction and driver cognitive load. This paper will cover recent significant developments at Harman International that will be game-changing for in-car HMIs.
