Collaborative care refers to a team-based approach where care providers and other member's of one's health team work together to coordinate patient-centered care. When providers and other healthcare professionals are able to collaborate with a patient-first approach, patients often experience better quality of care and improved outcomes. A recent study examined the implementation of collaborative care in adults experiencing PTSD. Unlike similar studies, researchers sought to examine the impact of collaborative care efforts on minority populations. Individuals belonging to racial or ethnic minority groups were more likely to benefit from collaborative care than non-Hispanic white participants and reported an increased reduction in PTSD symptoms. Moving forward, it is important to consider the individualized needs and goals of those seeking care and tailor the delivery of care accordingly. CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS - PERINATAL BEHAVIORAL HEALTH BASELINE DATA PURPOSE The perinatal work group expressed an interest in collecting baseline data for the guidelines they created in order to measure changes to processes of care. In response, the Bree has designed a difference-in-differences evaluation plan to measure the change in processes and impact of implementation using a combination of process measures collected through a survey and metrics data collected through OB COAP. AIMS - To measure impact of guidelines implementation - To determine which activities had the most impact on the outcomes - To understand if or how the use of equity data may have contributed to the outcome - To understand which guideline areas provided the most support for implementation - To understand which barriers and facilitators were most highly correlated with successful implementation. BENEFITS OF PARTICIPATION Any organizations that participate in the 2024 and 2027 process data collection efforts will be eligible for the Bree Collaborative’s Pathfinder Award and, subsequently, the Foundation for Health Care Quality’s Mountain Climber Award.   HOW TO PARTICIPATE Our process evaluation score cards measure an organization's concordance of care with Bree guidelines. Research shows that the public doesn’t understand what palliative care is, often confusing it with end-of-life care and hospice. What can palliative care clinicians do to overcome these misconceptions? Lisa Morgan and Rachael Heitner, MPH, give answers to this important question in the CAPC article, “Let’s Stay on Message with Palliative Care.” How we describe palliative care in our public messaging may seem accurate and clear to those of us in the field, but we are not talking to ourselves. We are speaking to our audience. What matters is what resonates with them. Imagine if you were the CEO of a hospital or health system, a provider, a patient, or a family member. If you heard palliative care clinicians talk about death and dying, and that’s what you read on every palliative care website, your takeaway would be that palliative care is only for those at the end of life. If we ourselves aren’t clear in describing what we do, how can our referral sources correctly identify the patients who need our care?

What does "open access" look like? Kayla Ashlee from Spexy shared how rethinking vision care plans doesn’t have to mean losing patients and can be liberating. She wrote: "Open access is a term I learned a long time ago from the founders of Anagram, a service that allows practices to pull out-of-network benefits for patients. This allows the practice to service all patients no matter their vision plan and no matter the in- or out-of-network status of the provider. "The opportunities that are found when an optical begins to align itself with an open access mindset are quite liberating. Practices will begin to see hope in no longer being controlled by vision plans, freedom from plan mandates, freedom from the rules of what products are utilized, and most importantly, freedom from contractual reimbursements."
