You're running a marketing campaign. How do you know which metrics to track?
In addition to the many spot-on comments already posted, I like to think of what would have happened had we not done the thing. What's the From-To? If it's 'brandier', could be site visits, search referral traffic, time on "about us"... If it's more activitity-based, try to factor out seasonality and as many causal factors as you can and look at campaign vs. steady state. It goes back to the age old strategy question: what do you want the target to do INSTEAD OF what?
