“Jonathon and I worked on the same instructor team for a JavaScript and Front-End Web Development course in a software development bootcamp program. For that particular course, Jonathon was the lead instructor and I was the associate instructor and class manager for that cohort of learners. Jonathon was easily the most talented JavaScript instructor I had ever worked with. He has a knack for explaining JavaScript and other web technologies in a way that is relatable and interesting to learners. Jonathon is extremely knowledgeable, an excellent communicator, very personable, and always professional and positive. I would recommend Jonathon for any position he seeks in the future.”

How do you use API specifications and standards, such as OpenAPI and JSON Schema?
Using swagger to document your APIs is vital to communicating with your APIs clients. I’ve also found that it is useful to yourself when maintaining an API. With swagger and OpenAPI your clients will be able to consume your endpoints with less frustration. I have worked with swagger codegen in the past. Highly recommend using it to generate strongly typed typescript clients for the frontend. However, I do not recommend using it to generate http clients on the server side. You could use it to save time on proof of concept server side projects, but I’ve always found that server side projects grow from proof of concept to something real. Use your best judgment on this generated code’s impact to the maintainability of your project.

High Scores API
My students were building web games for the NJIT Software Development Bootcamp.
I built a dotnet 6 API to store their games' highscores. I deployed this API to an azure app service using docker and azure container registry. I came up with this idea to encourage students to give 110% and show off their skills interacting with APIs.
The source is linked above but is private for now.
I also setup billing alerts using azure cost management to keep costs low since I used my own funds. -
