In the present study, we investigated the longitudinal relationship between dissociative experiences (focusing on the felt sense of anomaly subtype) and panic, as well as the potential mediating roles of emotion regulation strategies (expressive suppression and cognitive reappraisal), alexithymia, and cognitive appraisals of dissociation. Four thousand five hundred one adolescents aged 13–18 years were recruited via social media advertising to take part in an online survey at two timepoints, 1 month apart.' Do you have PTSD? If you do, EMDR is an incredibly effective way of resolving it. Here's a simplified breakdown of the process: Assessment and Preparation: The therapist works with you to identify a specific traumatic memory and the negative emotions and physical sensations associated with it. Desensitization: While you focus on the traumatic memory and its disturbing aspects, the therapist guides you through bilateral stimulation. This can involve eye movements (following the therapist's finger back and forth), tapping, or auditory tones. This bilateral stimulation is thought to help reprocess the memory. Installation and Integration: The therapist helps you identify positive beliefs and self-statements to replace the negative thoughts associated with the trauma. They also guide you to connect this experience to other positive memories and your overall sense of self. Benefits of EMDR for PTSD: Reduced Symptoms: Studies show EMDR can effectively reduce PTSD symptoms like flashbacks, nightmares, hypervigilance, and intrusive thoughts. Faster Treatment: EMDR can be faster than traditional talk therapy for treating PTSD. Many people experience significant improvement within a few sessions. Long-Term Effects: The positive effects of EMDR can be long-lasting, helping individuals move forward from their trauma. Widely Applicable: EMDR is not just for PTSD. It can be helpful for treating anxiety, phobias, panic attacks, and other trauma-related conditions. EMDR is a very effective and often very fast way of dealing with PTSD. When it comes to addressing trauma most practices and therapies get stuck on trying to figure out the mental and psychological aspects of trauma, not realizing that every trauma you've ever experienced leaves a physical imprint on your body. Notice how the fascia has adapted between the ribs of the deer and the ossification (basically bone formation) around the arrow and site of trauma? Believe it or not, you have an asymmetrical trauma network that's lodged in your entire body which is directly connected to your bones. And this network is exactly what people end up moving around when they stretch or train traditionally. What this means is that they can't produce motion in the parts of the body that are stuck, and every time they do move, they rely on a limited amount of motion they have access to. So if you keep moving in a way that doesn't create more balance in the body, not only are you making yourself more imbalanced, you're essentially taking on more bone to the trauma network. Keep in mind this is the specific part of addressing trauma which no other therapy can do. We get to the root of overcoming the physical restrictions in your body that the trauma caused in the first place. Which is why we're able to create substantial change on clients even with the most severe movement impairments, like Parkinson's disease and Cerebral Palsy. Trauma has a physical imprint that isn't neurological or biochemical, so changing the biomechanics of your body language is key in overcoming trauma. And this is what FP is about at its core. Developmental Trauma and Childhood Trauma Developmental Trauma: Developmental trauma is where the persons relational field of safety experiences repeated ruptured without proper repair, where the environment is a cause of significant stress in the nervous system and there is a lack of resource and support in their primary relationships in order to be able to have repeatedly experiences of co-regulation and returning back to safe and calm. This kind of trauma is insidious, often hidden and normalized within the person's experience due to long term identification with the traits and bodily experience. The personality becomes oriented around surviving relational dynamics in their environment, developing adaptive personality traits and repressive ego defenses to keep the un-metabolized sensations at bay; this happens within their physiology and psychology. The body develops chronic tension patterns within the muscles, fascia and energy systems which then result in a physical and psychological posture that becomes the person's identity. These repressive structures turn into reactive patterns that become entangled together, coupled with different emotions, thoughts and the senses themselves. Developmental trauma happens within relational dynamics, which is why it is harder to spot than just significant events. It is more often about what did not happen, neglect rather than abuse, missing needs and experience manifest various coping strategies in adulthood including certain personality traits and addictions. Intensive Trauma Therapy Training Starts June 3 This workshop will outline the potential benefits and pitfalls of intensive trauma-focused therapy, review the research, and teach, in detail, how to do it. Participants must already be trained in EMDR or PC. The focus is on how to sequence the various types of interventions that are normally done over the course of trauma-informed treatment, how to manage certain types of clinical issues, and how to manage the business aspect.   Participants will learn the step-by-step system for implementing intensive trauma-focused therapy and will conduct guided/supervised intensive trauma-focused therapy with one another. This is an experiential training. Participants will be able to: ✅ Develop and implement a comprehensive trauma-informed treatment plan. ✅ Problem-solve a challenging case using the trauma treatment framework. ✅ Implement the set of procedures required to provide intensive trauma-focused therapy to clients.
