Cheers 🥂 to a beautiful voice! Tip of the day! 💙 I always feel like doing ‘krrr-krererrr’ every time I talk too much, why? 🔻Throat clearing cause vocal fold swelling or more serious vocal fold pathologies and are considered one of the most prevalent forms of vocal abuse. 🔻Large amplitudes of vibration and high velocity of the vocal fold mucosa, as well as vigorous contact of the vocal folds, is reported to cause vocal fold nodules, polyps, and cysts. 🔻Laryngeal pathology that influences laryngeal sensation could cause a reactive cough. 🔻Coughing may have a role in maintaining a voice disorder or impeding treatment of a voice disorder. 🔻The effect of coughing and throat clearing on the vocal fold mucosa diminishes the impact of behavioral voice therapy and surgical interventions. 🌼The main alternative behaviors commonly offered to patients are soft throat clearing, silent coughing, swallowing hard, and swallowing hard with a fluid bolus. 🧿Ameliorative clearing tasks (silent cough, soft throat clear, dry swallow, or swallow with a fluid bolus of water) ❌Deleterious, habitual clearing tasks (hard cough, hard throat clearing) #voice #voicedisorders #vocal #health #throat #aslp #slp #therapy 🔗 Bonilha, H. The effectiveness of psychedelic-assisted therapy relies on a strong therapeutic alliance. A lot of people think that they can do psychedelics recreationally a couple times and be healed from years of trauma, anxiety, and depression. This doesn't happen, because the real work is done with the help of a therapist, who is able to help you check your blindspots and hold the lantern for you throughout your journey. This article says "Psychedelics should be considered akin to anesthesia and talk therapy to a surgical procedure. Anesthesia without the procedure provides temporary analgesia without treating any underlying issue." https://lnkd.in/eJBp29V3 #psychedelicassistedtherapy #ketamineassistedtherapy #ketamineassistedpsychotherapy #ketaminetherapy #mdmaassistedtherapy

Dysarthria is a motor speech disorder where damage to your nervous system causes the muscles that produce speech to become paralyzed or weakened. The damage may make it difficult to control your tongue or voice box, causing you to slur words. Speech therapy can help you communicate more effectively. What is dysarthria? Dysarthria (pronounced “dis-AR-three-uh”) is a motor speech disorder that makes it difficult to form and pronounce words. Motor speech disorders occur when damage to your nervous system prevents you from fully controlling parts of your body that control speech, like your tongue, voice box (larynx) and jaw. Dysarthria makes it challenging to speak so that others can understand you. Dysarthria can be developmental or acquired: Developmental dysarthria happens due to brain damage during fetal development or at birth. For example, cerebral palsy can cause dysarthria. Children tend to have developmental dysarthria. Acquired dysarthria happens as a result of brain damage later in life. For example, a stroke, a brain tumor or Parkinson’s disease can lead to dysarthria. Adults tend to have acquired dysarthria. People with dysarthria understand language. They know what they want to say and how to say it. It’s just that muscle weakness makes speaking difficult. #RaiseAgainstAutism #PinnacleSaysItAll #PinnacleBloomsNetwork #1AutismTherapyCentresNetwork
