The Phoenix Women’s Sports Association (PWSA) believes that sports fuels power, and powerful girls and women create success for themselves and their communities. However, we realize that many girls aren’t afforded the opportunity to experience sports. PWSA reaches out to under-served girls and women and offers core programs to help girls find their power through sports.

Arizona Masters of Poetry is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that empowers young people to become confident learners and positive leaders in their communities through the rich experiences of spoken word poetry.

As a committee member, I am responsible for assisting with coordinating AMP's annual Hotter Than The Sun multi-day youth poetry festival.

Create, organize, maintain, administer, and chair the Social Networking Committee responsible for the organization’s social media Facebook page.Served as Secretary on the planning committee for the annual fundraiser at Adobe Mountain Wildlife Center. Coordinated, secured, and assisted vendors and their needs leading up to and day of the annual fundraiser. Pursued and helped develop a grant proposal through the Pepsi Refresh Grant contest.

Served as a team captain leading up to the 9th Annual "Walk the Fight" 5k event for the Parkinson's Community. With the help of family members and friends, our team raised over $1,000 and recruited 14 participants to help raise awareness for Parkinsons. The funds raised benefit The Parkinson Network of Arizona, a voluntary alliance, dedicated to improving the lives of those affected by Parkinson's, through supporting the Muhammad Ali Parkinson Center (MAPC) in Phoenix, Arizona.

Work in cooperation with the Senior Marketing/PR Manager and overall professional staff to learn about and gain experience in the Zoo’s social media, public relations, event planning, and advertising/marketing policies and practices.

Participated and contributed in event planning meetings regarding the Spring 2013 fundraiser to raise awareness of Parkinson’s Disease and raise funds for further research. Team Fox is a grassroots fundraising branch of Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research (MJFF).

Traveled to South Africa to volunteer 80 hours at the Ann van Dyke Cheetah Conservation Center, partaking in tasks such as daily maintenance of the center, invasive plant removal, grooming, feeding, research, and overall upkeep of the sanctuary, while expanding my overall awareness of conservation and culture.

The Leadership Council offers their members the ability to increase professional networks, enhance leadership skills, and create positive change for youth in the community.

Approached and asked by the owner of Hammer CrossFit to brainstorm, organize, plan, and implement the holiday party for an audience of about 50 members. The event involved an in-house potluck, music, caroling, and a unique tractor trailer hay pull designed specifically for the gym audience.

Prior to this volunteer experience, I personally fundraised just below $2,000 to support my trip. During the trip, I volunteered over 80 hours in the beautiful country of Australia alongside other participants from colleges and universities across the USA, Canada, and the U.K. I was able to have hands-on, practical experience in conservation such as re-vegetation, coastal cleanup, and construction and placement of nesting boxes. Applied for and secured a grant for $1,000 to be given to a young boy who struggles with severe global delays who has no diagnosis. The money was given to the family and went towards care and research costs. Drastic improvements in his abilities have been made since.

I was asked to meet with board members of this New York based nonprofit organization for a Q&A session and to provide suggestions on fundraising, board support, board engagement, and staffing structure.

A year later, I met with the Executive Director and shared best practices and insight on how they may be able to reach some of their fundraising goals.
