As someone who owns two companies, I'm often on here bringing you insights into the agency and AI space. But today, I'd like to do something a bit different. 11 things you might not know about me, that are completely non-work related: 1. Born in South Bend, IN; Grew up in Cincinnati, OH; Live in Nashville, TN 2. Aries, ENTJ, Enneagram 8, Generator 1/3 3. Born into financial insecurity; First in family to graduate with a Bachelor's Degree, start a business, make generational wealth 4. "Born again" in 2001, went through conversion therapy in 2011, deconstructed my faith, and have reclaimed my spirituality 5. (Ready for this letter salad?) LGTBQ, AuDHD, CPTSD, EDS, POTS, MCAS, HLA B27, Hashimotos (stay tuned for what's next on my Autoimmune journey! 🙄) 6. As a result from all of these things, have been on a profound healing journey. Somatic therapy, Psychadelic therapy, and energy work have changed my life. 7. Having pulled myself out of survival mode, I long to help millions of people across the world do the same. I have a special place in my heart for generalists, neurodivergents, freelancers, solopreneurs, and entrepreneurs. (There's a ton of over lap there, BTW. So so much.) 8. Hobbies include: hosting friends at my lake house – obviously swimming and boating. Preparing meals and hosting ceremonies for deeper connection. Riding mopeds. And creating mini-documentaries. 9. Superpowers include: rapid pattern recognition, the ability to pull ideas down from the ether and turn them into tangible businesses and activations, playing any instrument by ear, all kinds of writing, and immediately seeing someone's potential and helping them manifest their dreams. 10. I'm married to the most sparkly human on the planet (ASHLEY ELAINE BRAKE), and we have two cats that I swear are galactic (Glen Coco and Cricket) 11. Trauma has admittedly made my life a bit intense, but has also given me the integrity and grit to do some remarkable things. I wouldn't be here without it. I trust myself. I love myself. And now, I'm on an epic journey of healing myself – and integrating all of it. FWIW, I look forward to creating containers where we can do some of this together. For those of you who resonate with any of this. Don't be a stranger. Say hi below or in my DMs. We've got some beautiful work to do. #founder #startup #entrepreneur #freelancer #solopreneur #ADHD #AuDHD #Autism #wellness

#AI, #NLP, listening and #EarlyRadar were big themes this afternoon at Kroger's 84.51˚office where five local startups talked up the future to twenty or so national brands. Nichefire showcased breakthrough work forecasting actionable trends and the next "secret sauce" (literally) for marketers while NativeAI highlighted the power of #NPL to unlock more value from feedback loops. InfoTrust saves brand builders a ton of money and time through next-gen data analytics and Narratize is accelerating time to market with #GenerativeAI for impactful scientific, technical, and medical content. From my end, representing BrandRank.AI , I noted that "search and discovery as we know it are being disrupted" and that brands MUST get in front of the "Prompted Moment of Truth" shopper journey. I also added a little "Gamification" to the mix, asking the audience to guess the brand behind AI-generated visual metaphors (e.g. Kroger is an increasingly green and healthy "Busy Bee," Walmart is an industrious beaver) -- this to stress the urgent importance for brand builders. "Thinking and acting like algorithms." Thanks John Stieger for organizing this session (and your indefatigable support of local startups...for 5+ years I might add). Mark Wood of Cintrifuse thx for your support of the event as well and great to see you. 🔥 Judy Zitnik thanks for the partnership, deck collaboration, and always spot-on feedback/suggestions. 🔥Michael Howard 🔥Khalil El-Amin Catherine O'Shea Sarah Sanders Katie Trauth Taylor, PhD #CincyAIWeek Hank Hudepohl Kelly Cohen Summer Crenshaw Bill Hildebolt

Navigating the Fustercluck #81 You Are the C.U.O. (Chief Unblocker Officer) We’re in the problem/solution business. With the solutions paying the bills. No wonder many bosses tell their people not to bring them problems, only solutions. Well, that’s a dereliction of duty. Leaders know that it’s their job to remove the roadblocks that their team can’t, so they can go on and solve the problems at hand. Leaders know what bosses don’t: you can’t delegate everything. Removing roadblocks is one of your biggest jobs.

What’s kept me going in entrepreneurship for over a decade? The ability to create an environment like this 👇 A lot of people start working for themselves because they want freedom. IMO, one of the best things about starting and running a company for the last 11 years is the ability to create that freedom for others, too. It has been a privilege and a (big) challenge to learn what people need from their workplace—and how to make changes. Jenny Weeden and I have been running our internal NPS for a handful of years now and I’m not going to lie… I definitely shed some tears over the first couple of surveys. The NPS does exactly what it should: unearths the things in our workplace that people are unhappy about. When discovered, we set out to find the root of each issue, and determine how we can make change. Change, by the way, is an imperfect process, with bumps in the road, false starts, wins, and losses. Fast forward to this year’s NPS, we received our highest score yet thanks to the willingness of our team to be honest, to engage in meaningful conversations, and to make change together. We're still constantly evaluating our environment and I expect that we will be as long as the company exists. Thank you, team Accelity. 💛 There is no group of people I’d rather spend my time at work with. (Mostly remote, because that’s how we want it! 😇)

Hello Friends! I’ve been a bit absent lately on LinkedIn as I’ve been up to something fun! Over the past year and a half, I’ve been working on something that is both incredibly exciting and deeply important to me. In 2022, I was at a local conference when I realized that I didn’t like the traditional exchange between vendors and event-goers. Vendors (including me!) hauled in boxes of swag and tchotchkes branded with logos, hoping to meet new prospects and make an ‘impression’ on them. It was clear that most of it ultimately ended up in the trash. Vendors (including me again!) then lugged those same boxes back out to their cars, a few pieces of swag lighter and perhaps a few business cards in hand. I was floored to learn that businesses spend an average of $25.2 billion on promotional swag every year, with nearly all of it ending up as landfill waste, and at least 25% of it right away. In addition to my work at The Leaders Partner, I am proud to share what I’ve been working on and building at Give2Lead over the past year and a half. Give2Lead is a simple-to-use marketing platform that helps small and medium-sized businesses improve awareness and capture leads while swapping wasteful branded swag for meaningful social impact. No more hauling boxes of swag to tradeshows and conferences, only to haul them back out again while attendees toss your brand in the trash or pass them off to their kids. Instead, be a part of a mission-driven solution diverting 100,000 tons of waste from landfills while giving to our local non-profits. We’re in the final stages of MVP development and will launch in the coming weeks. Check us out at www.give2lead.com and follow us Give2Lead to stay up to date on the latest news. #Give2Lead #SwapYourSwagforSocialImpact #SocialImpact

Sorry for ghosting you, LinkedIn! 👻 I took Q1 to step back and absorb thought leadership over posting it, and it’s paying off. Fifth Third Bank recognized me again for committing to continuous learning. 🤓 I’ve buried myself in LinkedIn Learning videos on content marketing vs. product marketing, and met with partners across the Bank to check my understanding as I form a strategy. Pro tip 💡: layering learning from material with your peers who are subject matter experts on the topic is a fantastic way to understand and align to how your org does things while building your network. This is learning and development a #53better.

Fantastic article from WSJ this week that is worth me sharing. I have been gently reminding our industry of the importance of designing content for mobile. Don't just take advice from me...WSJ makes some good points. https://lnkd.in/eFwsa8uT It's really interesting to see how retailers really are now wanting people to shop more with their phones. WSJ point out that this past holiday season was the first time mobile revenue share in ecommerce surpassed desktop (Data from Adobe). The big point made in the article is the extra friction on the big-screen laptop experience makes shoppers slower, more careful. Here's the kicker - mobile shopping scratches an itch for shoppers scrolling social media feeds and then want to find what they just saw. This convenience factor is driving big year-on-year increases in sales within mobile apps vs desktop. The challenge, however, remains despite mobile shopping becoming ridiculously popular and now the default for e-commerce - it still can't match the same experience as a big screen. Brands that figure out how to streamline, simplify, declutter and produce designs that are "mobile-first" and not desktop-first will ride this wave of "the shop in your pocket". #MobileFirst #UX #ecommerce #mobile #retail

From Minneapolis Airport Uber woes to AI innovation highs! 3 tips for navigating both with finesse. I recently ran a great roundtable dinner in the Twin Cities. The only painful thing was getting there. I will say... it made me think. Struggling to catch an Uber at the Minneapolis Airport is like waiting for a breakthrough in tech without AI - painfully slow and filled with unexpected twists! But fear not, C-suite friends, I've got three random tips to navigate both the airport queue and the fast-paced world of AI innovation (yes, Uber was delayed that long, that I thought of this): • 𝐄𝐦𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐮𝐫𝐠𝐞: Just like those peak times when every traveler is scrambling for a ride, the tech world experiences surges of innovation. Don't panic! Embrace the chaos and ride the wave of AI advancement to propel your company forward. • 𝐏𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐢𝐬 (𝐍𝐨𝐭 𝐀𝐥𝐰𝐚𝐲𝐬) 𝐚 𝐕𝐢𝐫𝐭𝐮𝐞: While waiting for your Uber, patience might be key, but in the tech world, it's all about speed! AI is constantly evolving, so don't get left behind while staring at the airport exit sign. Stay agile, adapt, and seize those AI opportunities before they vanish! Plus... expand your knowledge on it every...single...day. • 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐳𝐞 𝐋𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐚 𝐏𝐫𝐨: Just as you strategize your airport exit plan, craft a solid AI strategy for your business. Plot your route, anticipate challenges, and leverage AI tools to navigate the ever-changing landscape. Who needs a GPS when you've got AI-powered insights? So, next time you're stuck in that Minneapolis Airport Uber line, remember these tips. And C-suite pals, let's turbocharge our AI game and leave the slow lane behind! #AIInnovation #technologyleaders #techleaders #UberWoes #MillersMinute CDM Media

Douglas Burdett presentation "Everything You Wanted to Know About Podcasting" is a must-read for anyone interested in diving into the world of podcasting. He provides a thorough overview of the podcasting landscape, from the basics of selecting equipment to the intricacies of content creation and marketing strategies. His practical advice on listener engagement and monetization is especially useful for those looking to maximize their podcast's impact. As a fan of his podcast, I find the books he reads and presents to be truly eye-opening. They offer deep insights and fresh perspectives on various topics. It's unfortunate that marketing in Italy is often undervalued in companies, whereas in the U.S., it is recognized as crucial for achieving success. For a deeper dive into Douglas Burdett's insights, you can view the full presentation with notes [here](https://lnkd.in/e-wH2HCe). PS: Grazie Pierantonio Gallu for sharing this great post

It’s not leaderships job to hand you every tool on a silver platter. ICYMI: Tuesday night I addressed a room of several hundred folks who’ve worked with me over the last few years at the IMPACT Live Chicago event. Over this time I’ve garnered a reputation for being funny, easy going, a brimming with southern hospitality. The one thing I’m not nice about though is doing the work. My finest southern apologies if that ruffled your feathers. But it is no one’s job but your own to figure 👏🏼 it 👏🏼 out 👏🏼. Ai, particularly chatgpt, has one of the easiest ux designs of a complex software we’ve ever seen. You have the power to develop millions of unique and powerful tools all from tappy tapping on your keyboard for a few minutes. You don’t need me, or your marketing director, or your ceo, or your best friend to help you. You really just don’t. It is NOT hard! I too often hear that ai is “scary” or “confusing” or “not working right”. That “leadership is working on it for our team”. Those are all excuses to not do the work. It’s lazy. It’s entitled. It’s stale. If you’re a content writer, videographer, crm administrator, developer, strategist… only YOU know the real problems you face day to day. Your leadership is hosing down problems in every direction (hello recession, fancy seeing you again)- they don’t have time or bandwidth to hand hold through the creation of a simple custom gpt that you can generate in a couple hours tomorrow. We’ve said for a full year now that ai won’t take your job, someone using ai will. “Proficiency in generative AI” is the new “adept at Office 360”. Update your resume bullets now.

Whether you are the hiring manager interviewing a candidate, or the one being interviewed for a great role, being able to read the other person accurately can be a huge advantage to how the conversation goes. We've all perceived how someone thinks or feels on a subconscious level, and assume accuracy out of that "feeling", but there are methods we can employ to make it more that just a guess. This article describes 6 criteria that you can use to read someone in 22 seconds (that's their math) using FBI negotiation techniques. A very interesting read! #interviewtips #interviewtechnique #interviewskills

Over the last month or so I've been thinking a lot about AI enablement. What does being an AI-enabled communicator, marketer, salesperson, or CEO mean? What does an AI-enabled team look like? Nobody really knows, but we're starting to get the picture. AI will only get better, changing how we work and the work we do. We've got to stay on top of these changes, adopt, and adapt so that we can grow and find more ways to make an impact in our respective roles. We also have to be extremely vigilant and watch out for ethical breaches and outright disinformation either encouraged by or perpetrated by AI-enabled individuals and organizations. It's a privilege to have Anne Green, the CEO of G&S Business Communications, on my podcast this week. With her deep understanding of AI and its impact on people, business, and society, she is guiding her company and clients through these transformative times. Our conversation on The Trending Communicator podcast is a deep dive into AI enablement and more, offering valuable insights into the changes we're witnessing. Tune in to hear about: ➡ The critical role of ethics in AI-driven marketing and communications. ➡The need to find a personal advantage in new tech adoption. ➡Adapting to AI's impact on communication and thought. ➡The rise of online disinformation and its societal impact. ➡Optimism in the human capacity for innovation to address major issues. And much more, of course. Head over to The Trending Communicator on the podcast player of your choice, or listen in at the link in the comments below.
