Seven states have adopted the IEEE 1547-2018 Standard for distributed energy resource (DER) interconnection, according to data compiled by the the Interstate Renewable Energy Council (IREC). An “Adoption Tracker,” presented in map form offers insight into which states, utilities, and ISO/RTOs have adopted IEEE 1547-2018 that establishes how DERs like solar and energy storage can connect to the grid.

Yesterday, Federal Energy Regulatory Commission approved the North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) revisions to their Rules of Procedure regarding lowering registration thresholds for inverter-based resources (IBRs) from the Bulk Electric System (BES) threshold down to aggregate capacity at common connection point >= 20 MVA at a connection voltage of >= 60 kV.
