Entries cover individuals such as Simon Kenton, a contemporary of Daniel Boone; and Larry Staverman, the first person from the region to play in the NBA. Cities and towns, such as Ghent and Poplar Grove, and famous landmarks, such as Immanuel United Methodist Church in Covington and Pompilio's Restaurant in Newport, are included. The entry on airports describes the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport, but it also lists local airstrips within the counties. The region's role in the Civil War is extensively detailed. Local information can often be the hardest to find. The production of such an exhaustive regional encyclopedia is something that other regions can aspire to.
