  • System for use with three-dimensional printer and method for using the same

    Filed US WO2015126733 A1

    An assembly that is configured to be coupled to and communicate with a 3D printer having a printer head includes a color-application unit positioned upstream of the 3D printer. The color-application unit is configured to receive a filament and direct the filament to the printer head of the 3D printer. The assembly also includes a color applicator coupled to the color-application unit. The color applicator is operable to selectively apply color to an interior surface of the filament.

    Won first place in the undergraduate division of the 2014 Collegiate Inventors Competition for the invention of our full-color 3D printing technology: Spectrom. The judging took place between the top seven national finalists was conducted by amazing individuals who were each inductees into the Inventors Hall of Fame. It was an amazing honor.

    One of ten collegiate startups to win 1871 startup competition. Award includes year of office space at 1871 incubator and coworking space in Chicago's Merchandise Mart

  • Governor's Business Plan Competition Winner

    Wisconsin Technology Network

    Won second place in the "additive manufacturing" track at the 2014 Governor's Business Plan Competition. Award came following presentation with the "Diligent Dozen", a finalist group distilled from the over 250 applicants. Spectrom was the only student team at the competition.

    Business School at University of Wisconsin

    Won first place (cash + office space) for Spectrom's entry in the 2014 competition.

  • Qualcomm Wireless Competition

    University of Wisconsin - Madison

    Won "best technical entry" for Alteau: a remote medical diagnostics tool for third-world patients. The invention included an embedded incentive program in which non-invasive health-care data was collected in exchange for cell-phone data. Originally the entry for 2014 Hult Prize.

    Clinton Global Initiative

    My team was selected in the top 2% of 10,000 global applicants to attend the Hult Prize regional finals, our location being São Paulo, Brazil. We will present a business proposal and prototype for a social enterprise to bring noncommunicable disease healthcare to urban slums. We have been featured in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, WIsconsin State Journal, Morgridge Institute for Research, UW College of Engineering site, among others.

    Received first place awards in both categories of: Tong Prototype Prize ($2,500) and Schoofs Prize for Creativity ($10,000). My partner and I were the second entry to win first place in both categories. This year's competition was the most contentious to date with 28 contestants. These awards were received for our presentation, business plan and working prototype for Spectrom: A device to continuously bring on-demand color to FDM 3D printing.

    Received fully-sponsored study and travel scholarship to the Copenhagen Business School for summer of 2013. The scholarship, awarded through the Brittingham Viking Organization, is given to students following a written application and rigorous two-round interview process.

    College of Engineering at University of Wisconsin

    Received the second place award for Tong Prototype Prize ($1,250) and third place for the Schoofs Prize for Creativity ($4,000). I won these award for my presentation, business plan and working prototype for The American Press: an automated french press coffee machine.
