Be sure that your hypothesis can be measured consistently for all members of your experiment sample. Also, choose a hypothesis that can be implemented with reasonable effort should your experiment affirm your hypothesis.

How can you attribute SEM conversions to specific ads?
If you are seeking subscribers or leads from your search ads, give a dollar value to each completed form. For example, if you are seeking demos, take the total revenue generated from web demo signups for the past six months and divide that by the total number of web demo signups. This is not precisely accurate, but will give you a dollar value. Recalculate it every month or every quarter. Use GTM to add a price to the converion events. This then allows you to see changes in ROI as you make changes to your ads and landing pages. It also allows you to calculate benchmarks for revenue per visitor, and return on ad spend for long sales cycle purchases. Your average sales cycle will influence how far back you look for this calculation.
