Exciting news for Florida's infrastructure development. The state's budget for Fiscal Year 2024-2025 has hit a record $15.5 billion. This substantial investment is geared towards alleviating congestion and enhancing the state's economic vitality. Moreover, the Department of Transportation has been granted full financial autonomy to spearhead the governor's Moving Florida Forward Initiative. This move will accelerate crucial congestion relief initiatives across the state. A total of 946 construction projects and various infrastructure priorities, both existing and new, are set to benefit from this funding boost. It's a promising time for Florida's infrastructure landscape with these strategic investments in place.

It is okay to say no. As many RFP has been out, you may spend time to talk and find your teammates. It may not always work out. Be sure you only do what your capability you can showcase. It is okay to say no. Next right opportunity will come. NCDOT EV RFP 80/20 as this is brand new for everyone to working together. Somehow also it is a rough request. It will need lots of teaming efforts. Teaming is about winning for that right opportunity but it is also like buying a lottery as you do not buy, how are you going to win. It is also about practice makes perfect. If you do the same job for 100 times, won't you not be able to success? Looking for a long term partnership not keep doing speed dating. Spend time to get to know your partners. Patient and nurture the garden and it will blossom. #NCDOT EVRFP

🏗️🏡 We're proud to announce that North Port is once again leading the nation in construction! A recent report from Construction Coverage, using U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics data, ranked the Sarasota-Manatee metro area as having the fourteenth highest share of workers employed in the building industry in the country. Weston & Sampson was delighted to create a comprehensive asset management plan, including a 20-year Capital Improvement Plan (CIP), for the City of Naples, Florida. We developed this plan to ensure that the Naples water distribution system would continue to meet its level of service goals, which include maintaining the system efficiently to ensure the safety and well-being of all its residents. Another goal is to provide the highest quality water services while working to adopt a more sustainable program to protect the environment and waterways. Weston & Sampson updated horizontal and vertical asset inventories for the city and updated the GIS to include parameters that would help in assessing the likelihood and consequence of failure. We also updated the existing InfoWater hydraulic model to assess system needs and outline a blueprint for future improvements. Our team evaluated and reviewed the methods used to forecast population and demands and aligned our projections with those being developed elsewhere to ensure consistency between the city’s various efforts. This included an evaluation of non-potable demands that could be transferred to the existing reclaimed water system. We reviewed current planning criteria and based the fire flow requirements on the city’s current policies for supplying its customers. We conducted hydraulic model flow simulations under various demand conditions and conducted an asset management program that focused on goals and devised a strategy around understanding dependent systems. Using the asset ranking score determined through the analysis of the horizontal and vertical assets, Weston & Sampson created an asset management plan for the city to use in prioritizing and budgeting for future system rehabilitation and management. Projects were grouped together by cost, asset risk score, service territory, and other key factors determined cooperatively by the City of Naples and Weston & Sampson for the 20-year CIP. #HydraulicModeling #AssetManagement #WaterDistribution
