We’ve been setting up a brand new field marketing function at GWI for the past few months. Why? I believe collaboration and alignment with our revenue partners is key to our success. How do I see field marketing? ↗️ Owning joint targets with revenue. ↗️ Shared analysis of what is / isn’t working and what needs to be adapted based on the results we’re seeing. ↗️ Marketers sit in our core verticals alongside their peers in rev, mirroring the org design in revenue. ↗️ The marketers are viewed as an extension of the revenue team. ↗️ GTM strategies are created together, and presented to the business and reported on cohesively. ↗️ There is super tight alignment between field, DG, ABX and content. Field are the linchpin to making this work. Events are a major part of a field marketers role (not their sole responsibility) and as part of a broader field marketing function they become more strategic and revenue-focused, with ownership over generating or accelerating the sales pipeline, depending on the goal.

Our team surveyed and interviewed 100+ revenue leaders to uncover the new revenue roadmap. Revenue leaders are inundated with tips and strategies to improve pipeline generation every day -- but we wanted to cut through the BS to find what will actually move the needle for your targets this year. Key findings: OUTBOUND ISN’T DEAD A majority of respondents generated less than half of their pipeline through outbound in 2023, but 98% are still using some sort of outbound motion for pipeline generation. ADAPT OR GET LEFT BEHIND Traditional outbound playbooks and channels are losing efficacy. Over half of respondents expect email and cold calling to become less effective in the next 12 months. ALL ROADS LEAD TO SIGNALS Whether they called it signal-based selling, signal-based GTM, or signal-based prospecting, respondents flagged signals as a way to cut through the noise. 🚀 Last week was all about diving into software solutions for SaaS optimization, and it was truly enlightening! As someone deeply passionate about leveraging technology to empower teams, I had some fantastic conversations with leading B2B SaaS companies. These talks not only broadened my perspective but also provided fresh insights into how we can enhance lead generation and conversion within our own team. Here are a few things I learned from those talks that I'll definitely be incorporating into our teams efforts: 1️⃣ Personal connections matter: When I reached out to Storylane to learn more about their product which enables teams to do faster and shareable demos (could a plg company ask for more!?!?!) the rep that we were supposed to talk to was unable to attend, who joined the call instead? The company's CEO. I remember thinking the whole time, this is such a deep product conversation, yet it doesn't feel too technical or pushy... the discovery call is so important in shaping the beginning of a conversation between two companies. I can definitely say I connected to the product on another level. 2️⃣ Find a way to bring your lead value from the get-go: I've been a big fan of Gong's for years. When I started working in B2B, it was their content that I would go to to learn about GTM and I regularly watch and read what they're putting out. I used to work in operations so any product that can impact team productivity, workflows AND enables you to use AI to impact revenue growth will be of interest to me. The call with them was excellent, which is unsurprising, what was so pleasing is that out of nowhere their AE offered to connect me with their head of marketing since I had mentioned we were facing some challenges as B2B is relatively new to us. I met with their head of marketing and I'm still mulling over all the useful tips she gave us to look into. In marketing, inspiration is everywhere—you just have to be open to it.💡

Adaptability, strategic focus, owned media and content to drive growth, and collaborative brand building - these have been the primary messages this morning at Goldenhour in NYC. It's been truly incredible so far, with so many influential SaaS leaders under one roof. Here are my key takeaways from some of this morning's sessions so far: - Colin Fleming Salesforce shared that people's attention span is just 6 minutes in most content. He advocated for failing fast and trying new things, suggesting a break from the playbook to drive revenue. - Sarah McConnell, Qualified noted that you have to integrate owned media into your gtm teams and process. The first task has to be to educate your internal team so they can tell the stories. - Katie Berg, Klue covered everything they’ve tried, failed, and learned in building The Compete Network and how you can drive revenue from owned media. She highlighted the need to own and create the best resources to own the category. - Andrew Davies, Paddle highlighted the importance of caring more about growing the company than adhering strictly to budget constraints. - Alex Poulos Crossbeam stressed the need to prioritize and focus on those priorities, examining how this impacts the funnel and key performance indicators (KPIs). - Jack Foster WorkRamp suggested involving the entire leadership team in brand building, emphasizing the importance of ABM and using LinkedIn Reach reports to track targets as they progress through the funnel and ensure timely delivery of initiatives. - Ferdinand Roberts Asset Class stressed marketers need to test and learn quickly, get feedback and scale what’s working. - Godard Abel, G2 drove home to make sure your marketing focus is on metrics.
