This article highlights how landmarks in most instances do not need an accessible name. Landmarks like header, main, and footer should only appear once per page, which makes them easy to identify. The accessible name may add redundancy or create confusion. Also limiting the number of landmarks can help make them more useful. #accessibility

Popular, but not often discussed opinion: It is significantly more fulfilling to support Product Managers/ Owners who "get" the value of User Research and data than those who don't. So this series, at least for now, is dedicated to them. After you watch it, let me know what else we should discuss.

Integrate systems thinking into your user research and testing. We love Leyla Acaroglu’s article on concepts for adopting a systems mindset to tackle complex problems (Disrupt Design’s illustration is terrific, too). She stresses that mastering these concepts enhances divergent and creative thinking for a positive impact.  Read her article: https://lnkd.in/g7Fvq58H Check out each concept with ways to use Helio: 1️⃣ Interconnectedness ↳ Highlights elements' reliance on each other, urging a shift from linear to circular thinking. → Gather data on user interactions across touchpoints to visualize how changes in one part affect the whole user experience. Collect feedback from stakeholders to understand the broader ecosystem and dependencies within the product team. 2️⃣ Synthesis ↳ Involves understanding the whole and its parts simultaneously, recognizing relationships and connections within a system. → Combine qual and quant data to comprehensively view user needs, preferences, and behaviors, identifying patterns and connections. Use surveys, usability tests, and multivariate concept testing to gain insights, creating a robust understanding of user interactions. 3️⃣ Emergence ↳ Describes how complex systems and patterns arise from simpler interactions, illustrating non-linearity and self-organization. → Analyze user behaviors to identify patterns or unexpected ways users interact with the product. Simulate user scenarios and observe emergent outcomes to understand how system elements create the overall user experience. 4️⃣ Feedback Loops ↳ Systems are characterized by feedback loops, which can be reinforcing (leading to exponential growth) or balancing (maintaining stability). → Set up continuous feedback mechanisms to regularly collect and analyze user input, identifying, reinforcing, or balancing feedback loops. Implement changes based on feedback and test the outcomes with iterative testing, creating a dynamic feedback loop for continuous improvement. 5️⃣ Causality ↳ Understanding how actions and events influence each other within a dynamic system emphasizes the importance of discerning cause and effect. → Conduct experiments and A/B tests to determine causal relationships between design elements and user behaviors, pinpointing the effects of specific changes. Visualize how factors (e.g., design changes and new features) influence user satisfaction and engagement. 6️⃣ Systems Mapping ↳ It involves identifying and visualizing the elements and their interconnections within a system to gain insights and inform interventions. → Create detailed maps of the user experience by combining data from tests and surveys to understand how different components interact and influence each other. Use systems maps to identify critical leverage points within the user journey where small changes can lead to significant improvements, guiding strategic decision-making. #uxresearch #productdiscovery #marketresearch #productdesign
