I was delighted to give a tour of the Meatpacking District to the Midosiju Boulevard redesign team from Osaka City alongside Claire Weisz from WXY architecture + urban design. It was invigorating to talk about New York City, and be able to point to all that's happening in the district, from innovative streetscapes to distinct retail offerings. Osaka City is creating "people-centered streets," and so were visiting communities that have improved the pedestrian experience. Over the last several years, the Meatpacking District Management Association has taken a series of strategic steps to better orient our district towards pedestrians. Through our Western Gateway Vision Plan, we're transforming the streetscape again, having opened a new plaza last year and preparing for another transformative project this fall, too. Come for a visit and see for yourself! #MeatpackingDistrict #NYC #Placemaking #tour #Manhattan #urbanplanning #OsakaCity

Amazing work by the Boston Planning Dept. and WXY architecture + urban design teams for bringing this interactive tool to life. Learn more about the plan here: https://lnkd.in/gFZjmCQe
Our June outing to Governors Island was the perfect way to kick off the summer! It was a wonderful opportunity to enjoy the sunshine, reconnect with nature, and strengthen our team bonds outside the studio. Looking forward to July's outing! Photo credit: Katherine Hui

This past week marked some great milestones in our public realm portfolio. 🍽️ Congresswomen Grace Meng announced $2M grant for resturants in district 16 to participate in NYC’s outdoor dining program! Shout out to Sonia Guior Steven Picker Nicholas Pettinati, RLA WXY architecture + urban design and teams at NYC Department of Small Business Services New York City Department of Transportation for their months long work to launch this program. #DiningOutNYC 🧱The tireless team at NYC Department of Buildings announced progress made in the past year to #GetShedsDown including the development of new scaffolding designs and research that will inform ways to reform LL11. City Council also took an important step on hearing package of bills that will give DOB new tools for sidewalk shed enforcement. We all agree public safety is first, but blight caused by long standing sheds should not be the norm in NYC. Stay tuned for more progress on this effort 2nd half of this year! #RealmofPossibility #DiningOutNYG #GetShedsDown

In 2022, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported that nearly half of health workers said they felt burned out. In an effort to support the wellness of our staff, NYC Health + Hospitals has completed 20 new wellness rooms where staff can decompress during the workday. The million-dollar project, funded primarily by philanthropic dollars, was designed by WXY Studio and took two years to complete. The newly renovated lounges include high quality furniture, soothing lighting elements, artificial plants, aesthetic enhancements such as wall graphics and decals, and works from the health system’s art collection. The wellness rooms provide a centralized location for wellness programming, where staff can socialize and connect with colleagues, engage in peer support, learn more about internal and external wellness resources, participate in wellness events, and connect to their own concrete needs. https://on.nyc.gov/3RGoI9u
