Commissioner Rodriguez threw the first pitch at last night's New York Yankees game to celebrate the relaunch of “Speeding Ruins Lives, Slow Down,” our Vision Zero marketing campaign that now includes partnerships with professional sports teams. This campaign is one piece of Vision Zero’s focus on education, engineering, & enforcement. It is designed to connect critical messaging to harder-to-reach groups like male drivers.

Bus lanes are for buses. When enforcement cameras are activated, on average routes see a 5% increase in bus speeds, a 20% reduction in crashes & a 5-10% estimated reduction in emissions. Only 19% of violators that receive an automated bus camera ticket receive a second ticket.
We're launching Automated Enforcement Cameras on 14 bus routes across the city, in partnership with New York City Department of Transportation! These cameras will automatically issue violations to vehicles that obstruct bus lanes and bus stops, as well as double parked vehicles. These new cameras are now active on the B44-SBS, B46-SBS, Bx12-SBS, Bx19, B62, Bx41-SBS, Bx36, M14-SBS, M15-SBS, M23-SBS, M34-SBS, Q44-SBS, Q54, and Q58 routes. Learn more: https://lnkd.in/eGtP-x33
