Earlier this week, the Council hosted the latest installment to the Haynes and Boone, LLP Energy Series with an event called "The Oil and Gas Sector in the Age of Energy Transition." The Council welcomed Michael Freeman of Haynes Boone, who served as moderator as well as panelists Matt Baker of Prudential Private Capital, Jesse Bomer of Edge Natural Resources, Derek Dixon of Chesapeake Energy, and John Roby of CPX Energy. Their conversation catalogued the changes the energy sector has undergone as human needs have changed over the past few decades. With the transition from wood to coal to gas, now more than ever, the energy market is being driven by the demands of people and questions about how the infrastructure of the United States will match the pace of this change. With growing populations, volatile geopolitical conflicts, and incentivization of green energy to combat climate change energy depletion, the panel concluded that the energy market falls prey to a multitude of external factors that drive supply and demand. Although the future of the energy sector is uncertain, Freeman concludes that adapting to the evolving demands of both consumers and environmental considerations will be crucial for the future sustainability and success of the energy sector. This event was made possible through the generosity of Haynes Boone and Kosmos Energy. Learn more about and register for events like these at dfwworld.org.
