We just love sharing #SuccessStories. Today we feature East Cascades Career Development Coordinator Joe M. who shared the following success story celebrating the success of a #JobSeeker and the #Partnerships that lent to his success! "Good things happen when we adopt a mindset of collaboration with our partners here at WorkSource. Rob first engaged with WorkSource through our Re-Entry Program in late 2023. Following initial support and consultation, Rob was referred to Career Development to further enhance his job attainment skills. While interviewing for several positions through WorkSource referrals, Rob was offered and accepted two positions, and began working as much as 18 hours a day! Prior to starting these new positions, the STEP program provided a multitude of supportive services, including purchasing work clothes and boots for Rob. Things went so well that Rob was able to relocate across the country to rejoin his family. Before his departure, we collaborated with our Title 1B partner to further enhance his resume into a searchable version, supporting Rob's job search in his new location. This is the work that keeps us all motivated here at WorkSource, and utilizing a multitude of services only increases the likelihood of positive outcomes for our customers." Thanks for sharing Joe. #Collaboration is key in serving our customers and helping them be successful! #WeAreWorkSourceOregon

Are you fully utilizing your available #TalentPipeline or overlooking opportunity to further develop your staff? Growthspace shared a great article in regards to the business case for developing this talent. "Many companies have a goldmine of talent that often goes untapped – frontline employees. They are hourly-paid, shift-based workers — cooking and serving food, assembling products, answering calls, stocking shelves, delivering packages — they are the heartbeat of daily operations. Yet, their potential for growth and leadership is overlooked for a variety of reasons, not the least of which is the perception that it’s just too hard vs. external recruiting. Throughout my career in the restaurant, manufacturing, and distribution sectors, I have seen how investing in frontline employees creates significant advantages for competing in the marketplace. Here’s why developing frontline talent is not just beneficial, but essential, and how you can make it happen. Developing frontline talent is not only beneficial, it’s essential. Yes, it requires effort and discipline, but the rewards from greater employee commitment, reduced turnover, and a robust leadership pipeline are undeniable. By implementing these tactics, companies can tap the full potential of their frontline workforce and build a robust internal pipeline for future leadership roles." #WorkSourceOregon works with #Employers across Oregon to develop and upskill incumbent workers through on-the-job support including grants to offset training costs for those eligible. If you're an interested employer or #HumanResources professional, please reach out to connect with #BusinessServices and see how our partnership can benefit your business.

A #SuccessStory submitted by Career Development Coordinator Tracy Henderson. "I appreciate the partnerships WorkSource staff create with other agencies to provide additional resources and options to our job seekers. As partnerships are developed and collaborations begin, we can focus on our niche and not have to be the expert on everything. I received a call from Maria with the Good Works program an agency that WorkSource Douglas staff has worked hard to develop a strong relationship with. Staff will send a job seeker for the Good Works internship program. The goal is for them to have a job offer by the time they complete the internship. While going through the internship they will contact me if they need assistance finding employment. Maria provided a warm handoff to Clayton Beyea, he finished his internship with Goodwill and was unemployed. I called Clay to set up a meeting and discovered he was hesitant to meet with me as his experience with the “unemployment office” had not been good. After speaking with him, he agreed to meet with me. On April 22 we met so that I could learn more about him and his goals. His background was self-employment. He had started in construction and his niche was tile work. His knees were unable to handle this type of work. He enjoyed doing things with his hands and decided to start a business making jewelry by carving natural stones he was doing well with this business until the pandemic. He had not worked for the last 2 years and was ready to find something. We discussed his skills and occupations that would fit, he indicated he was interested in caregiving. I introduced him to Shardell Johson my PA 1 who had a relationship with an employer hiring for a caregiving position. Shardell emailed the employer Clay’s resume the employer wanted Clay to apply in person. Clay did and received a call for an interview. Clay was hired full-time as a night-time caregiver and started May 20th. On June 20 I received a call from Clay indicating he would like to skill up on the computer, he is interested in becoming a med tech which pays more, and wanted to know if we could help him learn the computer. I let him know that we offer a computer class that he can attend, and we have computers that he can practice on until he can afford to purchase one. He was excited about this and plans to use our services." Thanks for sharing Tracy! #WorkSourceOregon is the employment piece of unemployment, we work hard to be a valuable #partner in #JobSeeker and #Employer connections and to foster our #partnerships for the benefit of a well-aligned and effective workforce system. #WorkforceDevelopment #BusinessServices
