We celebrated our 3rd annual Make-A-Wish Night with the Woo Sox this past weekend! No rain could dampen our Make-A-Wish® Massachusetts and Rhode Island spirit, even if it did restrict us from creating the blue star. Wish recipient Mila threw a strong first pitch and wish recipient Alex was our special Junior Announcer. What a magical night with our Wish Community, the network of support of wish families after the wish! Can't wait until next year The WooSox Foundation!

All season long, we're teaming up with our friends and partners at Harvard Pilgrim Health Care to celebrate the small businesses that make Worcester such a great place to live, work, and play in. Today, we spotlight our friends at Che! Empanada. Located just steps away in Kelley Square, Che! Empanada is an outstanding Argentinian restaurant that offers more than 25 different handmade empanadas. For two final days, visit them at A Taste of Worcester on Summit Street! Or order online at https://lnkd.in/gwyr3APn. 😋

Not only for being fabulous and a champion and one of the greatest players ever, but he did a lot to teach you how to play baseball.” The story of how the late Willie Mays was nearly a Boston Red Sox and a meeting that was larger than life. https://lnkd.in/eQ2ka6kH

Hot Dogs, Peanuts, Beer, .... and Jollof? Normally, one of these items wouldn't be categorized as ballpark fare. Thanks to A Taste of Worcester, however, the Worcester Red Sox provide fans with local flavors that highlight the city's diverse and delicious food scene! Edible Boston's Greg Levinsky explores the concept's origins and its lasting impact in his latest article. https://lnkd.in/gfttzH3a In this role, I execute the sourcing and booking of vendors, manage the creation and/or distribution of marketing materials for the restaurants, and ensure that the relationship is maintained and nurtured for future opportunities. My favorite aspect of this project has been aligning the rotating lineup of restaurants with our season's promotional schedule! For example, during AAPI Heritage Month, we welcomed Worcester-based restaurants Thai Time and Mia Cane Juicery & Acai Bar. Who should we have in A Taste of Worcester next?
Congratulations to our WooSox Scholars "Class of 2024" and our seven WooSox Foundation Fellows, who were today honored on the field at Polar Park! ⚾ 📚 👏 Four Worcester Public Schools 8th graders will each receive a college scholarship of $10,000 from the WooSox Foundation. Their induction today brings the number of WooSox Scholars to 16 since the program began in 2021. This year’s recipients, selected from more than 1,700 applicants, are Sarah Arroyo Rivera of Forest Grove Middle School, and Ethan Tran, Jamy Faustin, and Rohulla Aman, all of Sullivan Middle School. “We are inspired by our WooSox Scholars,” said Dr. Charles Steinberg, who is both president of the Worcester Red Sox and The WooSox Foundation. “We love getting to know them, to know their stories, and to continue the relationship as they make their way through high school, through college, and beyond. The longitudinal relationships are so fulfilling to us." We thank Pat Battle, Peter Freund, and everyone at Diamond Baseball Holdings for funding this year's scholars. And we thank the faculty of Worcester Public Schools and the city officials who came today to support some of Worcester's most promising students.
