In 1991, Wintrust’s current Executive Chairman of the Board and Founder, Ed Wehmer, set up shop in a northern Chicago suburb with a simple goal: to provide an alternative to the big banks. Now, twenty-eight years and more than 175 locations later, we’ve stayed true to that original mission. We believe there’s a need, and a desire, for a true community bank: where tellers know their customers by name; bankers frequent local businesses; and the bank invests in the neighborhood it calls home.
