What if you turned sad desk lunch into a daily appointment with a former NASA researcher to learn about engineering? As part of NOVA | PBS's "Building Stuff" initiative, which aims to highlight the essential role engineering plays in the world around us, GBH's NOVA is inviting the public to join Dr. Nehemiah Mabry (“Dr. Nee”) every weekday at 1pm ET on Twitch for a livestream featuring engineering gameplay, interactive expert interviews, and virtual field trips. In its debut streams, “Building Stuff” on Twitch featured engaging content such as Kerbal Space Program sessions, where Dr. Nee and guest engineer Elio Morillo from NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory tackled simulated spaceflight challenges. This interactive format allows viewers to participate actively, posing questions and influencing gameplay decisions in real-time. National Geographic photographer Brian Skerry started out just wanting to be a diver and ocean explorer, inspired by family trips to Cape Cod and Rhode Island. But a dive show in Boston opened the word of underwater photography to Skerry as a teenager, a moment that he described to CAI NPR as an epiphany. Now, as one of three producers for GBH's "Sea Change: The Gulf of Maine: A NOVA | PBS Special Presentation," Skerry brings viewers decades of keen observations about how changes in the Gulf of Maine, a body of water that stretches from Cape Cod to Nova Scotia, will impact ecosystems, industries, and climate science now and in years to come. Thank you, @nytimes for calling “Two American Families” a “masterwork.” A three-decade portrait of the struggle to hold onto a fading American Dream, the two-hour special documentary directed by the indefatigable directing team Tom Casciato & Kathy Hughes and Bill Moyers Tuesday on PBS. I’m so pleased to share it with you, and so grateful that the NYT feels as strongly about it as I do...I hope you'll watch tomorrow night on @pbs @frontlinepbs https://lnkd.in/enNPZAew

For Iranian dissidents, the consequences of speaking out can be deadly. “Lethal Dissent,” a nine-part podcast from "The World," GBH’s and PRX’s global news radio program, investigates the price and peril that Iranian dissidents face for speaking against their government and follows the secret operatives who seek to silence them. The series is a collaboration with “On Spec,” a documentary podcast based in Istanbul, Turkey. For GBH’s Chris Harland-Dunaway, producing the podcast provided a window into a world few Americans ever see. “I learned how dissidents feel. For most of us, it’s a distant, hard-to-touch, hard-to-relate-to experience of waking up, wanting to say something openly, knowing what the dire consequences could or will be — and then doing it anyway.” Learn more about "Lethal Dissent":
