HII is proud to have built LHA 6 at our #IngallsShipbuilding division and to see it still serving our country. As the first ship in the America-class of amphibious assault ships, LHA 6 set the standard, followed by USS Tripoli (LHA 7), with Bougainville (LHA 8) and Fallujah (LHA 9) currently under construction at Ingalls. #USNavy #BuildIt #DeliveringTheAdvantage

The forward-deployed amphibious assault ship USS America (LHA 6) moored pier side at Commander, Fleet Activities Sasebo’s (CFAS) Yokose Fuel Terminal recently for refueling operations. LHA 6, which was built at Ingalls, is the flagship of the America-class amphibious assault expeditionary strike group. The ship’s primary mission is to carry Marine expeditionary units into battle, putting them ashore with helicopters and V-22 Osprey tilt-rotor aircraft, supported by F-35B Lightning II aircraft and helicopter gunships. We are proud to build these powerful ships that serve and protect our nation.

Employees with the HII Corporate office and Newport News Shipbuilding, A Division of HII, recently volunteered at An Achievable Dream Academy in Newport News, Virginia, for an exciting STEM challenge with the academy’s 115 third graders. Hosted on Thursday, July 11, by HII’s Corporate Sustainability Program, students worked in groups to design and build small aluminum foil boats. They then tested each boat to see how many pennies they could hold before sinking. Volunteers shared their knowledge and enthusiasm for science, technology, engineering and mathematics, while contributing to our sustainability goal of increasing employee volunteers by 10% annually through 2030. HII encourages all employees to participate in volunteer opportunities and make a positive impact in the communities where they live and work.

We are proud to share that we have completed contracted work at the Kenneth A. Kesselring Site, part of the Naval Nuclear Laboratory (FMP), in West Milton, New York. NNS provided maintenance services and led the refueling overhaul of a nuclear reactor prototype at the Kesselring site, a research and development facility that supports the U.S. Navy's Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program. President at Newport News Shipbuilding, A Division of HII

Newport News Shipbuilding has completed refueling overhaul work at the Kenneth A. Kesselring Site – part of the Naval Nuclear Laboratory – in West Milton, New York. NNS assumed responsibility for maintenance on nuclear reactor prototypes at the facility in 2012. Since then, thousands of shipbuilders have supported this critical work, both in Newport News and in New York. The work of Kesselring shipbuilders furthered NNS’ already proud legacy of supporting the US Navy’s Nuclear Propulsion Program. With the completion of our commitments at Kesselring, the facility is positioned to train U.S. Navy nuclear operators for years to come. Thank you to every shipbuilder who has supported this important work through the years. I invite you to watch this message from Mary Cullen, NNS’ vice president of Nuclear Propulsion.

We welcomed Rep. Bobby Scott, Rep. Rob Wittman and a delegation of Australian Parliamentarians to the shipyard on Friday. The visit was in support of the trilateral Australia, United Kingdom and United States (#AUKUS) partnership, which HII continues to support. While at NNS, the delegation engaged with our team to learn more about HII’s nuclear-powered submarine sustainment expertise, supply chain management experience and longstanding industry-leading workforce development efforts. Welcome home, Ike! The crew of the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN 69) returned to its homeport in Norfolk, Virginia, on Sunday, July 14, after a successful and historic nine-month deployment supporting maritime activity in the U.S. 5th and 6th Fleet areas of operations. Newport News Shipbuilding, A Division of HII, is proud to have built CVN 69 and is the nation’s sole designer and builder of nuclear-powered aircraft carriers. Congratulations and job well done to all the US Navy sailors and aviators on #CVN69! 📸: U.S. Navy

We are pleased to be working with the US Navy on this exciting addition to our shipyard. Once complete, the new Carrier Refueling Overhaul Workcenter will enhance the working experience for both sailors and shipbuilders by providing modern workspaces, which will allow some work to move off the ship.

The US Navy and #NAVSEA remains committed to quality-of-service improvements for our sailors and shipbuilders at Newport News Shipbuilding. Today, NAVSEA announces a contract modification for the planning, design, and construction of the Carrier Refueling Overhaul Workcenter for sailors’ and shipbuilders’ use while assigned to ships in Refueling and Complex Overhaul (RCOH) at Newport News Shipbuilding, A Division of HII (HII-NNS). The building will provide approximately 80,000 square feet of dedicated space near the ship that will include office spaces for sailors and shipbuilders, as well as a fitness center, counseling offices, and other areas sailors can utilize while executing RCOH. Construction is planned to complete in June 2026. The news to establish a dedicated work center for RCOH sailors follows last month's announcement that a new parking garage with more than 2,000 new parking spaces will be constructed in Newport News to help alleviate parking challenges. The Navy continues to work in close partnership with HII-NNS and governmental partners to advance initiatives to support service members assigned to the shipyard. #theforcebehindthefleet #AircraftCarriers #Warfighter #QualityofService #WarfighterSupport #foundation

HII is proud that two of HII’s advanced capabilities — the Virginia-class submarine USS Delaware (SSN 791), built by Newport News Shipbuilding, A Division of HII, and the REMUS medium unmanned underwater vehicle (UUV), built by HII Unmanned Systems — will be operationally deployed together to enhance the mission capabilities of the US Navy. The Yellow Moray system, which facilitates the end-to-end submarine torpedo tube launch and recovery of a REMUS UUV from Virginia-class submarines, is a game-changer, significantly boosting the operational capabilities of the U.S. Navy's submarines and their contributions to our nation's unified combatant commands worldwide. At HII, we are honored to continue our partnership with the U.S. Navy, increasing national security through the innovative integration of our manned and unmanned systems. Together, we are driving advancements that ensure the safety and effectiveness of our armed forces. 📝Story via Naval News by Dr Lee Willett https://lnkd.in/eyS4Z_fr

Today, Ingalls Shipbuilding, a Division of HII, had the honor of hosting Assistant Secretary of the Navy for Research, Development and Acquisition Hon. Nickolas Guertin. While at Ingalls, Secretary Guertin received a first-hand look at the ships currently under construction and had the opportunity to tour guided missile destroyer Ted Stevens (DDG 128) and amphibious assault ship Bougainville (LHA 8). We are proud to support our Navy in providing these platforms in support of global peace and prosperity!
