Andrew Trister, MD PhD, our Chief Medical and Scientific Officer, sat down with Tina Tan of FirstWord HealthTech while at HLTH Europe to go in depth about Lightpath, Verily’s new chronic care solution that will be available in early 2026. “Lightpath is informed by Onduo. We learned a lot from managing type 2 and type 1 diabetes over the years, and we’re carrying that over and expanding into cardiometabolic syndromes.” “We’ve always used remote monitoring tools in Onduo, but we plan for Lightpath to do more. We are designing it to extend the coaches and doctors who are part of the programme, expanding the use of tools such as continuous blood glucose monitors (CGMs), connected blood pressure cuffs and scales, and also including generative AI tools in the mix.” Learn more about Verily Lightpath: https://bit.ly/3xNYaw1 #HLTHEurope #PrecisionHealth #ChronicConditions 📷 Benjamin Arthur Photography at HLTH Europe

When wastewater data showed an uncharacteristic spike in influenza A, Verily scientists, in partnership with WastewaterSCAN, developed an H5 assay to help trace the highly pathogenic H5N1 virus infection. We’re currently testing for H5 at more than a hundred wastewater sites in over 40 states across the country. One of the goals of our LGBTv employee resource group (ERG) is to foster a community where members feel supported, safe and that they belong. Throughout the year the ERG hosts social events and gathers to talk about important issues surrounding health and representation. This year for #PrideMonth the LGBTv ERG wanted to expand beyond Verily and continue building community among members and allies by getting together with fellow Alphabet companies, Waymo and X, the moonshot factory, to celebrate Pride. #LifeAtVerily

In a recent study, researchers from Verily and Google Research compared pre-translation with direct inference of large language models (LLMs) on multilingual tasks. They showed that direct inference can be more efficient and effective in multilingual settings, alleviating the limitations of pre-translation. "As technology continues its quest to improve care by leveraging data sets, there are questions about bias and representation we must address. Modern techniques like deep learning and generative AI approaches must be designed to recognize these challenges,” said Andrew Trister, MD PhD, our Chief Medical and Scientific Officer, while at the inaugural HLTH Europe event this week. With co-panelists Gloria Seibert, Lucy Orr-Ewing, Ludovic d'Apréa and moderator LaShonda Anderson-Williams, they talked about the vast amount of healthcare data and how to overcome challenges to unlock its potential. Additionally, Dr. Trister noted: "We must build technology to allow people to generate data on their own outside of the healthcare system. We can augment data by patient reported outcomes via digital technology and wearables but only if the patient believes in the source and use of the results." #HLTHEurope #HealthData #AIInHealthcare

Benjamin Yaffe, our Head of Special Projects, had the honor of presenting Verily’s ongoing research and work in wastewater pathogen monitoring to this year’s cohort of the U.S. Air Force Institute of Technology Education With Industry Program. Over a ten-month period, the fellows focus on improving technical, professional and management skills by partnering with top-tier companies. In this session, the group learned how our approach to wastewater surveillance has expanded since the pandemic to a national scale, serving as a public health monitoring tool to detect new and emerging pathogens. Additionally, they discussed ways this technology could support USAF and broader DOD operational readiness and resilience. Thank you to Hoa Nguyen of Kontur Inc. and USAF for this opportunity and to Level 42 AI for hosting at Venture Lab Niterra Group!
