Update on Potential Hurricane Development We are closely monitoring a new group of storms just off the African coast. Over the next few days, these storms have the potential to develop and strengthen. Current models are inconsistent, but long-range ensembles indicate a possible increase in activity. The National Hurricane Center has identified this tropical wave, noting it could become a tropical depression in the coming days. Conditions are currently moderate, with some atmospheric dust, but this could change rapidly. Read below and follow us for more updates. https://lnkd.in/g5MhnKdq

The Northern Hemisphere has produced only six named storms so far this year, the fewest by July 18th since 1969. Despite Hurricane Beryl being a long-lived and powerful storm, the North Pacific has been very quiet, and this trend is likely to continue for at least the next week. The quiet in the Pacific is due to the development of La Niña and increased wind shear, while the North Atlantic is experiencing large amounts of Saharan dust pushing west. It's Friday, and it looks like we're clear for the next 7 days. Everyone enjoy their weekend! #happyfriday #Hurricane

Colorado State University has updated their prediction, now anticipating an exceptionally active 2024 Atlantic Hurricane Season. They forecast 25 named storms (including Alberto, Beryl, Chris), 12 hurricanes, and 6 major hurricanes. The Atlantic remains unusually warm, and a La Niña pattern is emerging. While early season storms don't always reflect the entire season's activity, strong storms in the Tropical Atlantic and Eastern Caribbean, like #Beryl, often indicate a particularly intense season ahead.

Reflecting on Beryl: The precision of the initial 'Cone of Uncertainty' forecast by the National Hurricane Center for Beryl has impressed many, and rightfully so. When Beryl was located in the deep Southeast Caribbean, the projected path proved to be highly accurate. This achievement can be credited to the extensive data collected by Hurricane Hunters over the years. As our scientific techniques improve, there will be a greater emphasis on predicting rapid intensification events. Interestingly, Beryl was only expected to peak at Category 3, but it escalated to a Category 5 hurricane. #Beryl
