One of only four universities selected, this 5-week course trains 45 students from across the country, including 15 at #USF, to use voice as a biomarker for diagnosing neurological, respiratory, and psychiatric disorders. Dr. Yael Bensoussan, director of the #USFHealth Voice Center and co-lead of The National Institutes of Health of Health (NIH) Bridge2AI-Voice Project, is pivotal to this innovative program. From three decades of worsening symptoms to a life without seizures, Laureen Waterman found hope at #USFHealth with Dr. Selim Benbadis, director of the Division of Epilepsy, EEG and Sleep Medicine in the Morsani College of Medicine's Department of #Neurology. Experiencing dizziness and fatigue that grew longer and more intense over 30 years, despite numerous doctors and extensive testing, Laureen found no definitive answers until she met Dr. Benbadis. Diagnosed with focal seizures from her temporal lobe, she underwent successful surgery and has remained seizure-free since, now enjoying life and advocating for others.
