I am presenting this poster today/tomorrow at the Vermont Center for Cardiovascular and Brain Health Symposium in Burlington, VT. "Olink Insight and Human Disease Blood Atlas to uncover the human disease proteome and accelerate the adoption of proteomics", Rucevic, et al. Olink Insight and the Human Protein Atlas, both open access platforms, were combined to analyze the plasma profiles of 12 types of cancers acrorss 1895 cancer patients. A protein panel of 83 proteins (consisting of well known protein biomarkers and proteins which had not yet been linked to cancers) was selected from 1463 assays (on our Explore 1536 panel) to simultaneously identify all cancer types with high specifity/sensitivity, with AUC ranging between 0.93 and 1 for all cancer types. Olink Proteomics enables a better understanding of cancer biology and the identification of early diagnostic, prognostic and therapeutic response biomarkers which can help develop new more effective therapies. A recent article in the New England Journal of Medicine (NEJM) by Chen (et al.) from the National Cancer Institute (NCI), highlights how Ultivue's platform technologies help generate deeper insights into the inter- and intra-cellular dynamics of the tumor microenvironment. A few benefits highlighted in the article: *Simultaneous detection of multiple biomarkers in single FFPE tissue sections, providing a comprehensive assessment of immune cell densities and multiple immune phenotypes. *Pharmacodynamic insights into atezolizumab's effects, revealing variable expression of molecular components across different response groups. *Precise quantification of immune cell infiltrates and PD-L1 expression pre- and post-treatment, revealing significant modifications in immune cell densities and highlighting atezolizumab's potential to enhance anti-tumor immunity. *Consistent staining, high throughput scanning, high-resolution imaging critical for quantitative analysis of nuanced changes within the tumor microenvironment. It is normal for the liver to store some fat, but stockpiling too much fat can prevent it from doing its job which could lead to fatty liver disease. Some people with fatty liver disease unrelated to alcohol consumption develop metabolic-associated steatohepatitis (MASH), a condition that causes inflammation and damage to the liver. #NIH_IRP researchers at the National Cancer Institute (NCI) have identified a set of biochemical events responsible for MASH. I'm thrilled to shared my lastest paper titled " Unmasking amending roles of hypocalcemia in cancer, COVID-19, and sepsis: Engineered nanodelivery and diagnosis". The paper have recently published in the journal "Environmental Research" (IF= 8.4). In this review, we highlighted deep understanding of hypocalcemia and its essential role for effective diagnosis and management of patients’ health. This article explores the multifaceted role of Ca2+ dysregulation in inflammation, fibrosis, impaired immune function, and accelerated senescence, contributing to disease severity. Targeting Ca2+ signaling pathways may provide opportunities to develop novel therapeutics for age-related diseases and combat viral infections. https://lnkd.in/eUGVUqfk

A new immunosuppressive mechanism in Brain Tumor by Peiwen Chen! 

A round of applause for our seven researchers who have been awarded over $8.5 million in NHMRC Ideas Grants!    The funding will support biomedical research in the fields of Parkinson’s disease, inflammation, immunotherapy and more.    Dr Hamish King will investigate how a novel regulatory protein in human B cells may turn genes on and off in #autoimmune disease.    Professor Daniel Gray will focus on reversing defects in the thymus to restore #immune function.    Dr Alex Uboldi will research the role of ubiquitination in latent #toxoplasmosis, a chronic infection caused by a single-celled parasite.     Associate Professor Ethan Goddard-Borger will investigate a new biochemical pathway as a potential target for #myelofibrosis, a type of bone marrow cancer.    Associate Professor Grant Dewson will be exploring how to restrain mitochondrial damage-induced inflammation in #Parkinson's disease.     Professor Matt Call will improve CAR-T cell #immunotherapy through targeted modulation of signalling pathways.     Dr Lucille Rankin will explore a novel pathway for manipulating tissue T cells and #immunity.
