U.S. Attorney Ryan Buchanan addressed the attendees at the DEA Atlanta Field Division’s Family Summit about our office’s efforts to combat drug trafficking and the fentanyl crisis. The annual event was held this year on June 26, 2024, for people who have lost loved ones to drug poisonings. Assistant U.S. Attorney Thomas Forsyth, the District’s Opioid Coordinator, also spoke to the attendees about prosecuting these difficult cases.
The U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia held a Naturalization Ceremony on Friday, June 28, 2024. U.S. District Court Judge Steven D. Grimberg presided over the ceremony and administered the Oath of Allegiance to the more than 75 individuals. David Nahmias, partner at Jones Day, was the guest speaker who shared his personal experiences as a child of immigrant parents. After the ceremony, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Georgia hosted a reception to congratulate the new citizens.

ATLANTA - The United States Attorney’s Office entered into a settlement agreement with Fulton County Schools in Georgia to resolve an investigation of the district’s response to an escalating series of student-on-student sexual assaults on a school bus serving students with special needs.
